Something came to mind watching the OU v WVU game

How come the lack of offense is always a negative point but the lack of defense never hinders a teams playoff chances?
I’ve heard spoken by all the sport talking heads Joel Klatt, Cowherd, Kannell, etc.
“LSU does not deserve to be anywhere near the playoff with that offense, it’s awful!!!!1”
Yet, there’s over 100 points scored in the game tonight and they are creaming their pants over the offense prowess. A game with zero defense is not football
Lets just make it 7 v 7 at this point, that’s what the NFL, NCAA, refs want at this point

I have not heard LSU doesn’t deserve playoffs because of offense. Link a few. I’ve head LSU would not match up well because of the offense

If I had to pick between the following teams:
A) Good Offense with Elite Defense
B) Elite Offense with Good Defense

Oklahoma would get beat by 3-4 TDS against Clemson or Bama. Probably 2 TDS by Michigan or Notre Dame.

Whether it was MEANT to or NOT, the change in tackling rules has helped the O and hurt the D, strong runner just continue to move forward as they are not allowed to be stopped by one man any more, hardly anyway

Huh? These teams aren’t dropping half a hundred on each other every week because of tackling techniques. They are doing it because of 2nd rate defensive talent in the Big XII.

Sure I agree with this but along with this is the change in tackling. Players can no longer just REACT, they have to think and that means a DELAY, more yardage for O

Give me a 17-10 game over a 53-43 game any day. Call me old school, but defense still wins Championships.

I think that’s just how most of us are down here and around the SEC. We still love big boy football and the only teams that win championships are teams with really good defenses and that can run the ball. That air raid shite doesn’t win championships
