Orgeron beat out LSU for multiple coveted recruits when Ole Miss was a dumpster fire.

If I remember correctly from the book, wasn't Frank Wilson on his staff at Ole Miss? It's been a few years since I read it but I seem to recall Frank being the lead recruiter for Joe McKnight (his recruitment was highlighted) so I assume Frank was the lead recruiter for that whole area. He had freeze on his staff too his isn't a slouch on the trail

This is from 2009:

quote:

Ed Orgeron, Tennessee Orgeron is the only recruiter in the country to have a book written about him that focuses specifically on his recruiting ability. ("Meat Market: Inside the Smash-Mouth World of College Football Recruiting," by ESPN's Bruce Feldman, focused on a recruiting cycle at Ole Miss when Orgeron was the head coach there.) In his short time at Tennessee, he landed defensive back Janzen Jackson (Lake Charles, La./Barbe) in the last recruiting cycle and helped the Vols land a top-15 class despite the change in coaches from Phil Fulmer to Lane Kiffin. He coordinates the recruiting efforts of the Vols and is one of the top evaluators of defensive line talent in the country.

Be Be could help us get back in with Daylon Mack and Phillips. I don't believe anyone on the DC list could. Maybe Durkin.

Orgeron has been a great recruiter and has a history of putting top notch DL in the NFL. Just about every kid and high school coach out there knows Coach O. The list of guys he has coached is very impressive. Warren Sapp and "The Rock" are 2 that come to mind.

More Info...

quote:

Ed Orgeron, one of the most popular assistant coaches in USC history, is in his fourth year back at Troy as the recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach after returning to the Trojan staff in January of 2010. He also was the defensive coordinator in 2010 and 2011 and then the assistant head coach starting in 2012. It's his 10th overall season at USC. In 2012, Sporting News selected him as the nation's No. 2 recruiter and Rivals.com named him one of the nation's Top 25 recruiters. Defensive end Morgan Breslin was a Hendricks Award finalist, while defensive tackle Leonard Williams was named a Freshman All-American first teamer and the Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year. In 2011, he was named the Scout.com/FOXSports.com National Recruiter of the Year, ESPNU/ESPN The Magazine named him the top recruiter in college football (and third best in all of collegiate athletics) and Rivals.com ranked him as the second-best recruiter of the previous 10 years (2002-11). USC in 2011 improved from the previous year in rushing, total and scoring defense, with the rushing defense (111.4) and sack averages ranking in the national Top 20. USC held 8 of its 12 opponents to 17 points or less. Defensive end Nick Perry, who tied for 10th nationally in sacks (tops in the Pac-12), was a 2011 All-Pac-12 first teamer and a finalist for the Hendrick Award before being an NFL first round selection.

Because if he's not on our staff, he's going to be at another school in the SEC recruiting in this state against us. And we don't want that at all.

Best recruiter in the world and would bring an air of enthusiasm to the fans of LSU that is badly needed right now , but don't worry ole Les is not to hire a coach that would show him up and take away from his glory.

Orgeron will not be the DC under Les Miles. This is just not going to happen. If Haley is promoted then Orgeron has a DL position available to him but he will not be above Haley. No way do I see Orgeron stepping down to be a DL coach either as that's way to drastic of a step down from being the head coach at Ole Miss to a DL coach? Not going to happen.

Why waste our own time scanning the internet when people like you that have nothing better to do have already done it for us?

Yea great point. The worst thing to happen is for Coach O to take a job with another SEC school and recruit the talent here in Louisiana. That would be the worst thing for us right now. I would give him the DC job right now just so this does not ever happen. Coach O along with Wilson would be deadly on the recruiting trail. 2 of the best in the business for sure.

Recruiting...If for no other reason so that he doesn't take a job in the SEC. Besides that, he seems to be a very good d line coach. Seems like a grand slam to me.

People said the same shite about Frank when he was at Ole Miss then Tennessee.

Any questions?

I love these responses:
"I have no self esteem because I'm a wuss, but I will act like one on the internet where I'm safe."

The guy asked a simple and sane question. If you don't know the answer or don't choose to respond, just STFU.
I mean that in the most loving and sincere kind of way.

He was the DL coach at the Saints, Tennessee, and USC all after Ole Miss.

So history already proves you wrong.
