Some LSU players might be getting NIL deals in the new movie The Mascot.

LINK
Jordy interviewed John Perkins Jr who is making a movie about the Mike the Tiger mascot. He was the UGA mascot when we beat them in Tiger Stadium in 2003 and he said it was the most intimidating place he has been. He wanted to do the movie with his alma mater but it didn’t workout with Georgia University. He talks with LSU and they were ready to go all in with this movie. He said he is a LSU fan now and his dad who passed away last year, was even a bigger LSU fan for giving his son this opportunity. The director brought up about having LSU players in the movie and NIL coming to play with this for them. I thought this was pretty cool tibit hearing him talk about the movie.

Who outside of LSU fans would wear LSU gear? Yet they sell it. Must be a market for it.

I watched Rudy about a walk on at Notre Dame and I saw The 6th Man with Marlon Wayans who played basketball for the Washington Huskies. If it’s a good movie, people will watch it.

If it’s done well, many.
Everybody’s All American had a good run - fun when they did that one on and around campus.

This movie will never be made, and this has more potential to be a disaster for LSU than anything else. UGA passed on this for a reason.

How could it be a disaster for LSU?

I am a but perturbed that a movie with no funding, written and directed by a guy with no industry experience, and produced by a guy who last did a short film 14 years ago is getting press like this.
It is just another example of how amateur hour the LSU administration is. UGA had first bite at this and passed.
My experience tells me when a movie with no funding starts getting press it is a lame attempt to drum up some investors, and the baton rouge media is a sucker for it every time.

LSU is letting filmmakers with no track record and no money use trademarks and campus locations. That plus the mention of NIL gives me a lot of concern. LSU was unwise to associate with this.

Something to think about- however I'msure our administration must be considering the things you pointed out

I don't see how it's a loss for lsu,if anything,it's a win

I did as well, and I cannot stand Notre Dame.

I just had a banquet where the real Rudy was the guest speaker. He was the only person pitchig the movie for many years and finally got a break meeting a writer or director (cant remember which) that had some clout. Notre Dame turned down Rudy for over a decade until the director or writer joined in. Just because Georgia turned it down doesn't mean it is bad.

I watched We Are Marshall, but I never went to school there.

The movie is about the mascot having to play in the game, isn’t it? Nevermind i listened to the link now. It’s about a national championship mascot season . Which is real , which I thought was just from ncaa on ps2

That one Adam Sandler football movie about SCLSU did pretty well.
