More enjoyable than setting fire to a 250 mile long swath of Georgia? You gotta be kidding me!

n other words, Saban is repeating what Sherman had already said.

Sherman ultimately saved lives by going total war in Georgia. Helped end the war more quickly.

Sherman's famous "the country will ne drenched in blood" soliloquoy was made to his colleague David F. Boyd on Christmas Eve 1860 upon hearing the news of South Carolina's secession. Boyd related that Sherman was in tears when he said it.
Sherman and Boyd remained lifelong friends despite serving on opposite sides of the war. When Boyd was captured, Sherman saw to it that he was exchanged. When Boyd became president of the reconstituted LSU after the war, Sherman donated books from his personal collection for the new library.

Sherman and Boyd hate pre-recorded music in Tiger Stadium.
They said it was strictly for alcoholics, druggies and people that are
demon possessed.

Sherman tortured South Carolina, too. He left tens of thousands starving after looting and burning their homes. He was a butcher. A cruel bastard.

I have often wondered how a northern general who burned and destroyed the south ends up leading a southern university.

Sherman didn’t “end up” being president of LSU. He was at LSU BEFORE the Civil War, not after.

My bad, I don’t know why I thought it was after.

Yeah, northerners and self-hating southerners make this guy out to be some kind of hero, but what he did was horrific. Most people in the south had nothing to do with slavery, as a tiny fraction of them owned slaves, and they did not ask for a war. Yet, Sherman apparently decided, on his own, that he needed to punish as many people as he could. That he caused such needless pain on so many fellow Americans and was not punished for it is despicable.

Agreed. Less than 10 percent of White Southerners ownwd slaves, despite the movie depictions and the tremendous "knowledge" of TikTok influences. LSU should NEVER honor Sherman in any way. He was the equivalent of Pol Pot or Castro, in my view.

It was the other way around. Read up.

What else isn’t well known is that Sherman was Commanding General of the US Army when the title for the Baton Rouge Barracks (old LSU campus) was given to LSU…not to the state.

Also he and his buddy US Grant did the same things to the Native Americans, after the Civil war,

Correct!
In addition, Sherman became somewhat mentally unstable during the war, was relieved of command, and President Lincoln was reluctant to give him a second chance...but did.
