If a fan gives any of those as reason they doesn't stay in stadium, then they just don't want to be there.

Well, the main reason I don't want to be there is:

quote:

3. Bring back more of the traditional Band songs, and get them more involved rather than the crappy music over the system all the time!

so, in a way, you're right. I just don't want to be there because of #3. I'm not in Tiger Stadium to listen to a concert for Christ's sake.

A CBS NFL game averages a little over 3 hours, a college game closer to 4 hours. Shorten the TV games, make it a little more affordable at concessions, you already pay a fortune for tickets. Maybe have less student tickets, at halftime half of the students section was empty, sell those tickets to true fans, which would be more revenue.

If I was ATT i'd partner with LSU/Tiger Stadium and have them put their open access WIFI in TS. Would be good marketing for them.

The likelihood of this happening with Verizon being one of our official sponsors is very slim. Plus, I don't know if I trust fans with WIFI in the stadium. It'll probably only serve as an extra distraction and excuse for them to not partake in the stadium experience. Students would be busier snapchatting instead of yelling on crucial 3rd down defensive plays.

While I'm a fan of the piped music that is being played, it needs to be minimized and have the band basically play that type of music in its place. If the band isn't there to entertain the masses, they'll slowly lose their luster and attention. By having the band play the music that is being played through the speakers, you deal with 2 issues with one resolution. While some of you may not care of the Hip Hop and Top 40 music being played, it's what the players and students react to most, when trying to get hyped.

When we can get that type of inclusion, we'll be back on the right direction. As for ways to keep people in the stands after 3rd quarter? Other than scheduling better home games, instead of neutral site ones, I really am not sure how to deal with that epidemic.

1) You're at a football game... wtf do you need your phone/wifi for?

Professional franchises and other big programs bend over backwards to make the game day experience for fans better. As a matter of fact they do survey's almost every year to check the pulse of its fanbase. Why do they do this? Because ultimately if fans would rather watch the game at home because of availability of cell coverage, alcohol, no commercials, the are going to do that over spending tons of money, and time to go to a live game and be inconvenienced.

All great suggestions. I have included those (except #5) in my survey from LSU and the SEC about improving the game day experience. Also:

1. Decent restrooms where you don't stand in line and walk through water/piss to get into them.

2. This is Louisiana. That is the best food we can offer? Improve the concession stands and the food.

3. It's incredible that in an outdoor stadium, you can't or won't provide a smoking area. I know a lot of people don't smoke but some of us heathens do.

I have six tickets and haven't gone to a game in 3 years. For 6 grand for 6 tickets and a parking pass you get damn little if you aren't in the club/suite level. Had just as soon watch on the big screen, eat good food, have a cocktail, a clean restroom and a comfy chair.

2. Sell Alcohol, people like to drink.

They should reverse this and instead of suspending alcohol sales in the 3rd quarter, start selling alcohol only after halftime.

More people leave the game at halftime than at the end. So if you are leaving at halftime to miss the traffic, you're doing it wrong.

This. I think cbs is going to start catching flack from schools. The Tennessee Aggie game was something like 5 hours and 45 minutes long. At some point people just stop watching. I didn't watch the BAMA Tennessee game because it was on cbs and I had dinner reservations that night.

At some point you have gone too far, and I think it is at a breaking point now

There's a lot of good suggestions here.

The reality is that WIFI and technology is not only here to stay, it's going to become more interwoven with our lives. Remember that there's a lot of people (think dates/spouses/children) that aren't as into the game (blasphemy, I know) as we are. If they can text, or be connected it lessens their complaining/boredom which allows people higher likelihood of staying longer.

I think there should be a dedicated TS network that has a password given to attendees upon entrance to the stadium. In today's world this really isn't that difficult.

During these TV timeouts there ABSOLUTELY needs to be highlights from other games playing on the jumbo trons. This is a huge problem with stadium experience now. The TV timeouts are more frequent and also longer. The band could play during this time, so no need for sound from the highlights.

I agree that the band needs to work in some more modern songs/hip hop that the younger crowd/players enjoys. I'd prefer that to the loudspeakers playing it. I do, however, strongly believe that the band needs to play more of the old school songs that everyone cherishes. The reason I want to be in the stadium is to bring back memories of when I was in school and the stadium. Playing the older songs helps distinguish it from NFL games. Furthermore, the students get exposure to it and then it becomes part of their experience for future enjoyment.

Alcohol sales will happen soon enough.

People who bitch about traffic bitch about rain. Baton Rouge has terrible city planning and infrastructure and the city is a traffic disaster all the time. You cannot expect LSU to solve a city issue.

The food could also be improved. I agree with updating the TVs. These requests all seem pretty reasonable.

Add to this, but these are my suggestions, from my experiences...
1. Open Wifi, because phone service sucks bad in stadium.
2. Sell Alcohol, people like to drink.
3. Bring back more of the traditional Band songs, and get them more involved rather than the crappy music over the system all the time!
4. Flat screens with HD in the lobbies by concessions
5. Bolt on Chair backs on every bleacher seat, people would enjoy some comfort when visiting the stadium.
6. Stop scheduling neutral site games, and start scheduling more home and home openers!

But there was a time when LSU had or offered NONE of these and was the #1 Rated Stadium with the #1 Fans.

But those "self-proclaimed" fans seem to have better things to do while still claiming to be the best in the land.

quote:

A fan, or fanatic, sometimes also called aficionado or supporter, is a person who is enthusiastically devoted to something or somebody, such as a band, a sports team...

I agree that anyone who buys a ticket to an event can come and go as he pleases. But someone who leaves early because it is more convenient or there is no wi-fi, etc. cannot, by definition, still be called a fan.

The Univ. of Wash. had Starbucks in their stadium. Why don't we have similar deals with Louisiana restaurants? For the prices the stadium vendors charge we ought to be able to interest reputable restaurants as game day in stadium vendors.
