For one, I think she may be a better SS than Pleasants
Something is going to have to happen for 3b next year. Tidwell might be a decent 3b, she definitely has the arm strength.
Really hoping LSU can grab at least two players off the portal, not sure if Beth is going to have any money to offer though.
If LSU picks up two good players off portal, with all the holes not sure what two positions would need the help the most.

Im not so much as worried about the defense although I think LSU can do better at catcher. Tidwell may be solid defensively but it does you no good if she's going to hit sub .200. Got to be much more competitive at this level at the plate.
They have to address the hitting collectively. We only have four kids hitting over .250 (starters) and we lose 2 of them next season (Doyle and Andrews).
They are either going to need to hit the portal hard or make a drastic change to the philosophy offensively. I think a couple of the incoming freshmen coming in will be pretty good but there are clear holes that need to be patched up.

I think the pitching staff looks great considering their recruitment. LSU hasn’t landed a true elite ace in years. I think I read you mention help is on the way
But hitting (minus Covid year of all years) has sucked so much arse since the last World Series run. If I’m not bored and hungover there’s no way I can watch this team hit. Has any program left more runners on base the last five years?
Anyway, the team is just so wildly inconsistent and average that we never really put a full game together. Would love to sneak into the WCWS but it’s weird having any expectations for a team like this

Wonder what our record would be with a catcher like Hemphill and a pitcher like Fouts

What a dumb question. We'd be better with the Player of the year and pitcher of the year. NO shite

Don’t worry, the catcher position will be taken care of with Macy Bergeron. Day 1 starter

Well she won't be playing until 2023
She signs this fall

Who do you think can beat out Cummins next season?

If she works hard, Newland could step up and be that kid. Factor in the potential she has at the plate, if we aren't going to have a strong defensive catcher, at least have one who can hit.
Brown dealt with injuries prior to LSU so I don't know if that would inhibit her from being a full time catcher.
Who knows what happens with the roster by next fall when you factor in the transfer portal.

Will be interesting to see who LSU can grab from the portal and it might be shocking who LSU could lose to the portal

Several years ago he was the head coach at McNeese
He was also the Ragin’ Cajuns hitting coach. Hell, that guy would probably jump at the chance to come to LSU.

Lots of talk on Ultimate College softball about LSU getting new hitting coach.
You talk about replacinf bad itting coaches, we need to replace our whole staff.
No, we don't want your assistant coaxhes

Craig Snider needs to be the Aggie head coach.

Beth’s blind loyalty to Dobson is frustrating.
Stubbornness and refusal to make a needed change on the Staff will eventually do the same thing with Torina.
Nobody is immune from prosecution.......

I think the hitters are not being developed/coached.
Sunseri’s puzzling drop off has been mentioned. Doyle hit .328 her sophomore year. Both of these players are big strong kids with a lot of talent. So yes, back in 2017-18, I figured Amanda would be an All-American before she left here.
Maybe my projections earlier in this thread were a bit optimistic, but yes—with their natural talent, I don’t think it unreasonable to believe Doyle and Sunseri would be anchoring this lineup hitting around .300 with 20 or so home runs apiece had they been coached the last few years by a mentor like Missouri’s hitting coach.
Speaking of "hitters not being developed", "Amanda", "Missouri's hitting coach", do you remember the Missouri transfer, Amanda Sanchez from a couple of years ago?
Her first two months here she was hitting the ball as if the NCAA POY was her's to lose only to finish her final month batting sub .200.
I had never seen a collapse like that in my life, and I'm hoping that it was more anecdotal than a microcosm of a systemic mutation within the program.

Perhaps Lauren Gutierrez (.350 5 HRs 2x Mountain West Player of the Week) desiring to play her final season with her younger sister would be an intriguing but probably unlikely scenario.
Anyway, I simply adore LSU Softball, and though I don't think they have anywhere near the consistency for the ultimate prize, I plan on having a blast rooting them on for the remainder of the season.

Oh exactly. She was hitting the cover off the ball when she first got here.
Then Dobson’s “revolutionary” hitting system kicked in.

Is there a portal for hitting coaches?
Posted on 5/15/21 at 11:32 pm to LSUJockStrap
It may be time to make some changes... let's start with #1 fan.. let Deangelo be the face of the program! I'm fine with never giving another penny to the program.
