The LSU Softball Performance Center will be one of the top indoor facilities among college softball and the biggest indoor facility among the SEC with space of 14,500 square feet.

The LSU Softball Performance Center will have a full sized infield with custom, motorized netting surrounding the entire surface. This will allow the team to participate in full infield, hitting, slapping or pitching drills regardless of weather conditions outside.

Each hitting lane will have wired electricity which will provide the staff and student-athletes the capability to set up multiple batting machines throughout the facility. The facility will also be wired for a custom multi-camera system that will provide the student-athletes and staff with a chance to immediately review film during practice.

When this will all be built is another issue, LSU's had this money from a couple of specific donors for this project for a while now.

And why shouldn't they? The university only loses $2 million a year on them.

It will also help recruiting too. The major facility upgrade for gymnastics has already had a major impact.

Looks like there is an increased season ticket sales already. Should see a lot of packed attendances this season too

This is being partially discussed earlier and below...

I said this in that thread
quote:

A family donated a large percentage if not all of the money to build this several years ago. It should have already been completed but we know our Athletic department... Pat Henry told people at A&M while I standing right there that we are Last Second University.

So glad for Beth and the softball players to get this.

hope you can make it up to BR soon for the season. Should be a pretty fun one.

Looks like our sophomores are now on a completely different level, transfers look to make a major impact. Maribeth looks fantastic too.

Probably the Auburn series will be my first trip over as our schedule here is really busy the 1st 3 weekends our high school softball season. I'll be watching online and the Evil Twins will be in my seats so they will be occupied.

If this is the standard we might as well not field 90% of our other sports teams or do anything since they lose money.

Do we not want to be the best? You people complain about wanting to accomplish it but You have to spend and invest to do so.

But the money is already there from a few specific donors for this project. It covers the facility and labor. So what is the issue exactly?

Bingo. Not too mention softball is the most successful sport lately at LSU. more consistent results than the big 2 money makers football and baseball. If softball could ever get close to brwaking even it would be fantastic. But yeah cut out other useless non performing team sports and reinvest that money into softball.

LSU is not a for profit business only concerned with their balance sheet. It's a public university. I don't understand why people get so negative about LSU getting better as a whole.

Baseball and Softball results since 2012. We'll use that year since that's when Torina was hired. Last 6 seasons:

Softball:

6 NCAA tournament appearances
4 Super Regionals
4 WCWS appearances

Baseball:

6 NCAA tournament appearances
5 Super Regionals
3 CWS appearances
1 CWS Runner Up
3 SEC Championships
3 SEC Tournament Championships

Baseball > Softball. And that's not just because I hate women's sports.

Maybe some baseball big money grip baws should step up and donate some money to buy something fancy for the gentlemen. This was donated by specific donors for a specific project that took zero dollars from baseball. We can hate women sports allllll day long, but this is taking nothing away from baseball.

I hope they don’t put home plate and the batter’s box in the pitcher’s circle.
