So who was the weak link on the O-Line yesterday?

I watched the game on Dish Anywhere in DFW and it was brutal.(the game and the service). I know the O-Line sucked but was there a major culprit that you guys picked up on? I thought it was probably more the Center/RG but don't know for sure.
Also...two things we should have been ready to do yesterday...zone D and ball control. That was on coaches. Speaking of coaches, the only thing impressive from that group yesterday was Coach O's post-game presser. Dude stands up, gives the hard responses and handles it like he should. Kudos to O for not "Les'ing" it.
I'm going to give him a pass this year. He lost far too much to continue down the path started last year. I believe this year is a on-off for several reasons. I believe we'll have a transfer QB next year and right back on track. This year is gonna suck and our coaches need to gameplan better to protect our weaknesses. I could've throw for 350 against that man coverage. Bo...we know you like to blitz and play man. You better get over that til you get Stingley back and a competent CB to hold down the other side!

Tat surprises me I guess because I did watch him as much as I could and thought he held up pretty good. Again...my feed was so choppy I wasn't able to focus on nuance.

Rosenthal was the only one I remember consistently getting worked.
I think Ingram at LG allowed a lot of pressure too.

It's was Rosenthal but man was deculus really let his guy get to brennan a few times... He should be our best lineman I thought.

Deculus was bad too
He’s a guard playing tackle

Lol at the expectation that this unit would play well with zero starts amongst the five with the same guy on the right and/or left side of him. It will take time. It’s like the Rant has never watched CFB before.

This team and especially this oline unit really missed the cupcake games

Rosenthal had a few break downs but consistent pressure came from the RG/RT.
As far as the run game it’s hard to say seeing how we only run 2-3 different run plays that fool no one.
As complex as the passing offense can be the running plays look like they come from a 7th grade jr high team

Rosenthal and Hines both had a horrible game. They both wiffed on multiple blocks in the passing game and the running game. Brennan didn’t help by not stepping up in the pocket and rolling into the pressure.

I saw more problems on the right side than the left. Granted, was watching live-action so could be wrong.
One problem I saw was 'chasing' on those stunts. If you chase a stunter you won't block him (with a good angle) and it frees up the other.
And if that happens in a zone blocking scheme, which we run often, it is doubly bad.
Let the guy get handed off to the guy beside you and keep your gaps covered. Do not, under any circumstances, get yourself out of position and end up blocking no one. At a minimum put a hat on anyone that comes into your gaps of responsibility... while maintaining your position in those gaps.
Fact of the matter is if they blitz with numbers (out number you) they will get through.
A) Don't let it blow up the entire scheme where there is pressure from both inside gaps and edge.
B) QB has to recognize and adjust. If 5 block 6, it is only temporary.
C) WRs need to recognize it. Either alter route to be in space vacated by blitzer or just give the QB a hot route.
D) If QB recognizes (e.g. DB blitz from slot or flex, rolls away to buy time) and WR recognizes (e.g. you are in slot and S crashes down to take spot) you can get a big play out of it. Just both have to recognize AND know that's what you are going to try).

Let's just be realistic here, Brennan isn't rolling out anywhere. The last thing anyone wants is to involve him running anywhere. He has to get the ball out in under 2 secs.

Maybe the o-line is behind because they had to quarantine halfway through camp. It could also explain why O thought the defense looked so good in camp - the offense was behind and having to handle a lot of blitzes that they just aren’t in shape for yet. Regardless, they need to get up to speed quickly.

Myles Brennan. A 3 Mississippi release time will make any O-line look bad.

Deculus was on his backside several times yesterday!
Posted on 9/27/20 at 8:45 pm to GarTiger
It was a combination of different guys getting beat and some guys doing their jobs fine and Brennan failing to step up.
