... go two and BBQ at the SEC Tourney and fail to advance out of a sub regional at the Box .. ?

boxtards told me he is off the hot seat for life bc of 2009

Chill out. It's a game played by kids. Don't take life so seriously. Enjoy the excitement and let go of irrational expectations.

That seems pretty unlikely to me. But that would be 3 straight years of not up to standard LSU baseball. It happens in every program though. Billy Donavan missed the NCAA 2 years in a row & he's seen as an elite coach in basketball. He would feel the heat from the fan base but I doubt from Alleva.

That's a pretty drastic situation that I seriously doubt will happen. Quit trying to twist out "he needs to be fired" responses.

yeah, some really do still feel that way .. but the general impression is that if CPM didn't do markedly better this season, he would be in major trouble here ... i just wonder if this season, winning 40 games, playing a regional at home, but not winning the SEC and failing to advance to a super at home would be enough to turn down the switches on CPM's britches ..

I think we win a home regional at least however.

it's a question for discussion .. not an opinion or statement of perceived fact .. dunno where "chill out" is applicable here ..

yeah, Z, but Billy D. has two national championships under his belt .. let's say CPM wins it in 2008 (similar to donovan's accomplishment) also .. then i don't think we are even having this conversation ..

no one's trying to twist out any "he needs to be fired" responses at all .. I am a big CPM .. once again, it is a question .. and, btw, it isn't out of the realm of possibility that this team loses this weekend, doesn't win the SEC tourney, and doesn't get out of the regional ... so, what kind of a season would that be at this point in your mind ?

btw rag, huge fan of the patio lounge
Posted on 5/14/12 at 7:27 am to Elleshoe
i used to hang out there years ago .. i like that place too .. one of those joints in BR that is timeless .. for sure ..
Posted on 5/14/12 at 7:28 am to TigahRag
I love how the sign on the door simply says "bar". I don't think there is a sign anywhere outside that says "Patio Lounge". Only been 3 or 4 times though

i thought the landlord had finally retro fitted the whole property with a new, updated facade and the patio finally got their name up there .. but i could be wrong ... i don't pass down that part of jefferson that often anymore ..
Posted on 5/14/12 at 7:31 am to TigahRag
yeah the whole property has been redone but I still don't think there is a sign

I consider going from last place in the West division to winning the division a year later and being ranked #1 in the country for many weeks late in the season IS markedly better.
If the team falters badly the next two weeks I believe it will have more to do with Ty Ross' absence than Mainieri's coaching skills or lack thereof. I really had no idea how important Ty Ross is to the team behind the plate until I saw J Snikeris catch two SEC games in a row.

If that scenario unfolds the heat would definitely be turned up. I'd want Javi gone, like yesterday. & next year would be super regional or bust. w/ the resources available here @ LSU missing a super for 4 straight years is unfathomable.
No someone comes in here & takes a regional tho. More likely scenario is we lose this wknd's series, go 1-2 in Hoover & miss a nat. seed. Lose a super to a Baylor or FSU. I'd still want Javi gone. I can't stand our approach at the plate, I'd love to see an "Allen Dunn" type of move for our hitting coach.

you're prolly right .. and yes, the place does personify the term "hole in the wall" .. i dunno if they still do it, but for years about half of the high school football refs in the city used to gather there after games to drink and watch themselves on sportsline friday night ..

Completely agree .. Snickeris isn't a bad DH .. but, wow .. does he open the running game up behind the plate .. wasn't he somewhat considered the late inning defensive replacement for Ross last season ??
My big concern is starting pitching right now too .. We gotta snap out of this funk ..
eta: i have been watching baseball religiously for over 30 years now .. and i have NEVER in my life seen a catcher hit the resin bag with a throw to second base .. for a split second, when i saw the white poof .. i thought Snikeris had actually broken the baseball ...

Sometimes, I think LSU fans are just stupid. This is like bashing the football team because we lost the National Championship Game. Chill.
We lost 2/3 with one game being in the 10th. We are top 5 in the country and contending for an SEC title. Why start threads with the "what if we lose the rest of our games this season?" scenario? What makes anyone think that will happen?
This "catastrophe syndrome" is getting old. Man up and have some confidence in your incredibly good baseball team.
