I don’t look at things based on results. I’m process oriented . You don’t green light with your best hitter on deck
So what is your process if your best hitter is at the plate? Do you green light him?

I don’t watch other coaches so I can’t comment to that. What I do know is PM has made LSU baseball a passive watch as opposed to participatory. It is excruciating watching him coach and some of the boneheaded things that happened. It happens to often, for to many years to be a personnel issue. Just my take, but LSU baseball has become background noise, for my sanity. Time for new and different energy in this program.

Your best hitter is at the plate.
Because of the runners on base, it is his first opportunity of the night for him to hit against a non-shifted infield (I would love to see his BA when the shift is not on).
You have a team struggling at the plate.
You know you are getting a fastball. You got a fast ball over the heart of the plate.
This can be debated all day but I was yelling at the TV to give him the green light. Great call Paul.

I questioned the 4 lefties in a row too, then read his pregame explanation and i get why he did it. Obviously hitting lefties against a lefty is low percentage. But if that pitcher is making his first appearance of the year on that stage. I think the numbers slide towards lsu a decent amount. How much is debateable

I hate his game management but if he wins I don’t give a frick.
This is the #MilesMentality. You have to look past short term, immediate results and see that since he first got here his teams have horrendous fundamentals, often don’t even know where to be on certain plays (like who’s covering second or who should be backing up a throw), atrocious approach at the plate mentality, poor game/line up management. It is beyond a trend at this point.

His teams are more often than not among the top teams in the country defensively

What exactly would you change?

LOL.
Team fundamentals? Really?
You think Lsu's fundamentals have been off since he got here?
You lose any credibility you had.
This year the fundamentals have been off but that was expected and already started changing. You know that 6 of the 8 in the field have had little to 0 experience right?

For this game, yes. The next game is still a toss up.

A daily shot of super vitamin B12 should be in his contract.
Have never seen a less enthusiastic coach.

Nope. Not even close. Defense is surely down THIS YEAR, but Paul puts a solid D out there almost every year. It's the biggest strength of his teams usually.

the rant will evaluate Paul as the season progresses. We'll get back to you. Thanks

Look, I wrote that I didn’t understand it, but I didn’t write that it was a mistake. Mainieri is two steps ahead of the most knowledeable posters on this board, and he’s five steps ahead of me.
I’m critical of Mainieri for a lack of energy, but we could not ask for a better baseball mind.
