Catching the ball when you are open is 100 percent on the player not the coach. The fact people try and put this on the coaches is so dumb.

Funny you mention this. There’s a group of people here that believe executing during the play is coaching .
I’ll i I my grave calling people who make that claim out.

Players make plays.
Coaches put them in the situation right play call.. it’s up to them to pull it off.

Coaches don’t miss fg wide left.
Coaches don’t throw into double coverage
Coaches don’t fumble
Coaches don’t wiff on blocks or miss tackles
Coaches don’t catch the ball inside the 8 on a punt when he’s been coaches 1000 times to let it go over head

Any person that’s ever played ball will tell you betwee the whistles it’s his responsibility to make the play.
Coaches job is to teach technique and put players in position to make plays... ie play calling.
Coach haters on this site will always say it’s coaches fault.

fricking dumbasses.

Other than recruit the N.O. area, what does Mickey do?? Let’s cut him a duster and hire a QB coach!

I'll give him this; so many of our drops have looked terrible this year because our WR's have been that wide open. Drops are a concentration thing. Hopefully he can get them worked out

We might be DBU but we sure don't know how to catch a football!!! This is not on the coach this is on the butter fingers receivers!!!

You people are so damn dumb. Watch the game in slow nation because you don't know what the frick you saw apparently. These same WRs were shite last year. Much better this year.

It wasn't their catching or route running, it was their blocking that sucked arse. I agree that some of these guys should sit. Why didn't we get the new TE involved either. Then when we did catch the ball there was a flag thrown.

It was just a bad game for this team. It wasn't the offense or defense. It was both. The players need to step the frick up and beat the man in front of him. If there is any fault in our coaches and HC, it's instilling that killer instinct into this team. I just don't see it and haven't seen it all year except for moments.

One side of the ball or the other has a bad game or quarter. They need to play together as a team and have that dominating mentality. Beat the man in front of you at all cost and be smart about it. Stop rushing things and let those big moments come to you. They just need to focus man. If they make a mistake then get the better of the next play. Stop hanging your head and buck up.

This is one of the best and most realistic posts I've seen. This guy is on the money. Sad so many in this fan base are sad to these facts.

It’s not like our players are physically incapable of catching the ball.

They need to focus and get their heads on straight.

That’s part them, but I’ve yet to see what aspect of the game were better at since Sullivan arrived.

The Auburn game was one of the best games I’ve seen from our receivers in ages. Did all the little things. They were good against Miami it being week 1 and decent vs Ole Miss. If anything it’s still a little too early to draw any finite conclusions.

It was kinda “smh” the way they had to have Sullivan babysit Joseph last year and basically move him to some faux position this year. Cregg is the only coach on offense that stands out. If Robinson could at least start hitting in recruiting.

I'm of the belief that the main thing a WR coach can help is with teaching route running skills. The player has to put in the extra work when it comes to hands.
The most important thing to establishing a good to great WR is reps, game reps in particular. When your apparent goal is to see how many different receivers can catch a ball in a game rather than developing 1-3 top receivers, with game reps, you tend not to develop a top group for the sake of developing 7-8.
Jeudy and Smith get 80% of the reps at Alabama. Annually, Alabama has a top 1-3 WR group and the rest wait their turn. The top 1-3 get better because they get consistent game reps. At LSU, our goal is to have 9 different WR's catch a ball each game apparently. That's wonderful. Problem is we don't have a Jeudy and Smith developing as necessary because they are sharing reps with a half dozen other guys.

Well if Jeudy or Smith could consistently catch a pass thrown his way he wouldnt have to worry about sharing time . he would have earned the right to be on the field and not constantly replaced. Show the coaches you belong out there.
Work on getting on OPEN and CATCH the ball when you are targeted . Problem solved on playing time.

Except that’s not the case

Chase And Marshall have the highest Target to Conpletion ratio on the team.

Chase leads the team in TDs.

Have Chase and Marshall dropped balls in game situations? Or have they got less than 10 snaps per game because they have to share time with 6 other guys?
I'd ride with Jefferson, Chase and Marshall until they show in games they can't be counted on. If that happens, replace them with another guy, not 5 other guys.

I agree with you it seems the 2 freshman should be playing more because the upperclassman are very inconsistent.
