I know, I know this simply means more money being bet on Ole Miss, but 7 points, wow, seems like a lot. As if we have a lot of guys out that is not public yet...

Teams who are double digit underdogs and win outright (LSU last week) fail to cover over 60% of the time the following week. The letdown effect.

Even Vegas overreacted to LSU's win over Florida with the opening line

Breaking news: LSU still isn't that good

They do. They know that a vast majority of bets are on ole miss so they move the line until it evens out.

Did the line move in .5s or 1s or a big jump?

Ole Miss has a very good offense. In fact, the only offense to really threaten Bama all season (aside from UGA for a half). Despite the win, LSU's defense still gave up a ton of yards and 34 points to UF. Even though Ole Miss has the worst defense in the country, LSU's isn't much better (ranked about 5 spots "better" than OM).

The bettors are probably looking at the "let down" effect noted by another poster. However, I don't think that will be in play here. Quite the opposite. LSU was as "down" emotionally as they have been all season. They had just been destroyed by Bama and had lost two straight. Guys were quitting and there was talk of a mutiny. From all outward indications it seemed the team was just packing it in for the year. But they didn't. They know this is the final game of the season (win or lose) so perhaps the motivation is one final kick before they shut it down.

The bigger concern is who will be available? Does LSU have more than 2 RB's. Is Johnson limited? Will LSU be down two starting DB's going against one of the top passing offenses in the SEC? That's what I'm sure the sharps are looking at

I think LSU needs 14 more points plus the 3 to make LSU worth betting on.

I am not an handicapper but I would think that LSU would put forth a great effort on Saturday in order to have a non-losing season. Plus, this game is the last game. The game is at home. Leave it all on the field. Enjoy the holidays afterwards.

Too many unknowns with LSU right now which is why betting is like this. Seems pretty obvious.

exactly. It astounds me how little this board knows about Vegas. They don't "know" anything more than we do. They just set, and then move, the line to try to get equal bets on each side and they pocket the vig.

They don't have some top-secret inside info that they're hiding from the public in the hopes that the betting will be unbalanced toward one team, and then Vegas will clean up on the other team. That's a sure recipe for bankruptcy.

Vegas books make their money off the vig.

We won last week and I am ecstatic about the win. Needed in worst way.

But without the timely turnovers we would have got beat bad. Gators had many explosive plays and we gave up almost 700 yards.
