re: So one bad portal class has changed CJJ’s entire philosophy on the portal?

I think he is referencing staying away from power hitters in small conferences. He’ll probably go after more all around talented players that can hit for high average, guys that have good gloves too.
I found it odd that jay built his last team with guys like dickinson and stanny and braswell and luis, won a championship, and then completely shifted philosophy to guys like dardar, simpson, and yorke
Either way some of it is bad luck, with carraway and moore hurt

Money comes in then product is lack luster. This is why NIL is ruining college sports. Fans equate money spent with future success. Instead it’s money pissed away for players that don’t care about the school. Coaching is gone

I think he's also referring to Larson, Costello and Ryan.

Based on his statement quoted from the OP, and the season those guys are having, I 100% agree.

He took mostly guys from lower levels
K-State and especially Oregon St are not “lower levels.” One is in a P4 league and the other has been a great program for long enough that their conference isn’t killing them.
The issue with Caraway is that he had a mediocre season and then caught fire in the postseason and that didn’t carry over I’m sure how the staff was hoping.

Possibly because we lost all of the power from last year’s lineup other than Brown.

Brady Neal too. As much as he rubbed people wrong.

He’s clueless when he has equal or slightly lessor talent.

Dumbass. Every school with more talent had more money than LSU to spend to retain players.

Yes, I hear you. He's also not playing Catcher at Bama either. He would have had trouble playing in OF at LSU. Maybe he could of been a 1st baseman.
I dunno, just reaching, that's all.

Whomever sold him on these blokes needs to be banished.

I think he means different evaluation of portal talent. There aren’t enough guys taking coaching and trying to be better. Remember all the best hitters over the CJJ tenure could hit the ball oppo for power. Hell almost all of Crews and Whites homers came opposite field for the most part.
Jones started to hit more opposite field in his last season. Same with Frey.
The guys on this team are not doing it. They either aren’t capable, aren’t listening, or suck. Seems it’s more the latter 2 than the prior

WTF? He took Arizona to the CWS 2xs in a handful of years and was like a runner on 3rd from winning a Championship with them.

Nobody around here would have put up with Brady Neal last season.
He hit .219 for them and I think he still struggled defensively. From what I've seen they have him playing OF now. I don't' care to check, but nobody would have put up with Neal hitting around .200 2 seasons in a row. Especially if he isn't even great defensively.

Yes he would have played when Stanny went down. He could have possibly played if Brown moved to first then the young guys like Braun wouldn’t be playing. Braun has FAR more potential than he had for a season. While those 2 were losses,
I’m not sure long term it was a bad decision for them or LSU
