Maybe if they had a decent coach who could work with them and find out what's wrong, things would improve. Knowing that their coach doesn't have any confidence in them and plans on recruiting their replacements will probably destroy what little self confidence they have left, making the situation worse. So, instead of trying to help them, the Ogre just brushes them aside like trash. What a moronic a-hole. As this team continues, Ogre will continue to show his historically true self.

Could part of the reason for their struggles be that we decided not to have a special teams coach? Who is actually coaching them? Who made the decision not to have a special teams coach this year? Hmmm.....

The whole point is if you want to rip O, this ain't the reason. There's plenty out there. People are just trying to find reasons now. He said "we have to get better kickers and I'm going to recruit one of the best in the country". Pull your skirt up. It's football and people are crying about what a coach said about our kicker. I am not nearly as critical of O as many on this board, but I HATE his tendency so far to blame the players. Very un-head coach like. What would Pete Carroll do, Coach? I fear he hasn't learned as much as he and we hoped.

People don't have a problem with admitting the problem. O did two things:
1) He specifically insulted players, and at the same time didn't take any responsibility on his own. You CAN both be direct, put some weight on players and not throw them under the bus
2) He basically gave up on improving the kicking game this year. He absolved himself to any further problems with his dumb "Recruiting" answer. He has 0 faith in any improvements this year.
That's why it's unfair to the players.

The players need to pull a Rudy and throw all their jersey's on his desk. Except this time they will be doing it because they won't play for the head coach instead of wanting a teammate to play.

So instead of getting a coach to develop players, he'd prefer they come developed. Got it!

You do understand the difference in a head coach admitting that the team needs to improve its kicking game versus saying we have no kicker, not one on the roster right?
