I mean, come on…in the end you want players that will bring your team up in the worst of times, as well as the best, right? Well, THIS IS THE WORST OF TIMES. (Check everyone’s SEC football record this century) There’s not a ‘next year’ or other option…if we don’t win the next two games we dissolve into mediocrity and people talk about LSU like it’s passé, like UCLA basketball or Notre Dame football (lol). I think the best players play when they know ‘history’ is on the line, and if they don’t perform well now, they won’t be ‘historical figures’ in LSU lore. Some are gonna be ok with that.

Some aren’t. That’s what we are faced with

Where are the fighting tigers?

Not worried about 0’s streak How’s LSU’s? We all know there’s only one stat that we can hold over any other schools heads in football. And it’s fading

All you clowns speculating or suggesting that you have some knowledge that the program is being influenced by a players dad needs to check themselves. All players, obviously with influence from family and friends, typically do what’s in their best interest as a player. For some, they may be looking for their best path to an opportunity to play at the next level. Of course, that may be with another team. You might remember a guy who did that…..hmmmmmm…. Joe Burrow?!?!

Hate to say it but he gone! If not next year then at least the season after when Walker Howard takes over as starter. This is why you have to recruit 2 QB's in each cycle and hope one sticks around

He’s going to transfer after the season.

QB's need quality playing time to develop. I think it is a bad idea to turn down that quality playing time when it is available. Worrying about a redshirt to miss opportunities against Alabama, McNeese, and A&M seems like a waste.

Red shirts aren't even as valuable as they once were. You don't need to use one to play immediately after a transfer.

As a QB, I give Nuss less than a 50/50 shot to play more than 5 games next year even if he transfers. If he starts here or somewhere else for 2 years straight he would skip any remaining years and go pro.

The whole thing is ridiculous.

LSU was desperate for a spark at QB in what became a very winnable game against Alabama...there was no thought of bringing him in because they "didn't want to burn his redshirt". That, in and of itself is ridiculous because HE WAS THE BACKUP QB! So all involved were apparently just fine with him "burning his redshirt" in the even Johnson had to come out of the game due to injury, but it was not ok to play him if the coaching staff just thought he could maybe help the team win? What a complete slap in the face to the other guys out there fighting for the win.

Then, apparently, it was fine to play him vs. Arkansas. A game with FAR less significance, even if just psychologically, than Alabama.

Now, he's not even the backup because they want to preserve his redshirt?

It is plain to see what is happening. He (and I'm sure his father) are considering the possibility of transferring due to the coaching change and want to do whatever is necessary to most benefit him in the event that happens. Now, I completely understand a player wanting to consider a transfer in light of the fact the coach/coaching staff that recruited him won't be here next season. But if that is the case and part of the consideration is you don't want to burn your RS...then you do that early on and don't even practice as the backup. How pathetic is it that you evidently had a backup who was only "available" in the event the starter was injured vs. Alabama...but wasn't available to otherwise help the team try to get a win.

I’m actually glad he’s keeping his red shirt

I think he’s going to be QB1 of the future, but he’s too raw right now. We will be glad to have him for an extra season

edit: Also he should’ve played the second half of Alabama for his last game instead of Arkansas but that’s neither here nor there

I've been two steps ahead on this Nuss drama the whole time. It was obvious what they were going to do.

They probably still want to redshirt Nuss. Give him extended playing time in his 4th and final game against Arkansas and see what he can do. If it doesn't go well shut him down and reshirt.

Howard want play for 2 years.
This is the SEC!!
Especially if all QBs stay and most especially if the new coach convinces Brennan to stay. Howard will redshirt. Howard is not an early enrollee and if Brennan stays Max will probably transfer as well.

Who knows? This walk-on could be an All-American quarterback darkhhorse. And he may play tomorrow night: just let Max do his thing for two series, and stink up the field, and then it's o'Dowd time.

Coach O fricked the goat on national television by not playing Nussmeier in that game, cost us, and then threw the whole "redshirting" idea and the family under the bus. He's a coward and should have "coached" as you say cause he was the "coach".
