Apparently, Kelly’s people are here, probably paid, to generate controversy to diminish LSU’s position in buyout negotiations. You will be able to tell how many by the downvotes on this post.

I’m no Kelly fan but both sides signed a contract. Kelly sucked and it didn’t work out but you signed a contract. Pay him what you owe him and move on. I don’t blame Kelly, I’d get every penny. And everyone of you would as well.

I’ve been in this board since 2005, I’m not a “BK person”.
LSU owes Kelly $54 million. Pay him. The last 2 weeks have done irreparable harm to LSU’s reputation and standing in college athletics. It’s being ruined by incompetence at the leadership level.
Pay the money and move on.

I mean I don't like the publicity that is going on. I could care less what Brian Kelly and his family are trying to do. They are within their right to want the full contract buyout amount. However, he is still being paid his monthly salary. He is not hurting. $25 and $30 mil is a lot of money to turn down so not feeling bad for him at all. Majority of people on this board will never see that kind of $. I get his stance but there is no sympathy from me.

Don’t wanna be too specific here, but didn’t Kelly engage in personal conduct that was detrimental to the team soon after he arrived? Seems like Woodward ignored it, but it did happen.

Take off the tin foil hat man… this was a disaster involving the govna, LSU BOS, Woodward, big boosters and everyone else that had a say. Kelly needed to be let go, but the fault is as much on LSUs side. There seems to have been a lot of personalities and a lack of plan which never works out. Now everyone is laughing at LSU and LA.

They should have to pay the full amount. They made the contract. LSU signed the contract that Brian Kelly gets the buyout. There is no argument. LSU owes him the money.

The contract is not for the full amount in a lump sum. They didn’t agree to that.

The fallout from this firing has opened my eyes to how reactionary and stupid our fan base can be. All of the below are true:
1. Brian Kelly is due a total of 54 million paid over the next 6 years
2. The 54 will be offset by the amount of income kelly is contractually obligated to pursue over the same 6 year time frame.
3. Lsu is posturing and pursuing a settlement with Kelly to reduce the 54 million total to a smaller lump sum total and remove the offset referenced in 2.
4. Once the two sides determine the value of the offset language removal and accelerated payments, a buyout somewhere between 30-40 million will be announced
None of this is a disaster and should have been expected.
