Agreed. Flynn had a couple of nice runs in that game to add to the rest of our rushing attack. Why would we pass when we could run all day long? But of course, we could ask the question this year why we continue to run the option when it doesn't work.....

I'm not here to defend Flynn's legacy. I do think the kid's a winner, and I do think he can put his team in a position to win.
Off the top of my head, he had many third down runs from pass plays that kept drives alive, even multiple ones from 15 yards out. Auburn and Florida that year on 3rd and 15 he gained first downs or fell one yard shy and we eventually got the first on 4th and one.
Completion percentage of 55 doesn't bother me. He threw at least 3 passes away on our first 2 possessions of the Peach Bowl win in '05, when the rush was on and no one was open.
He had bad halves (Bama '07), and bad games (Ark. '07). But, there was a certain level of confidence that he was aware of the game's finer points and had some level of clock awareness.
Miles is ultimately responsible for clock management, but something tells me that the QB of our future would have been in the official's face soon after Ridley was tackled on third down, and would not have spiked that ball at the end.

god i hate when people bring up that hester was a 2 star. He was a full back coming out of hs, they are rarely rated higher then 2 star and a 3 star fb is supposed to be a stud. A high 2 star fb, like hester was, is supposed to be a solid contributor, as hester was.

How many 4-star players did Utah have last year? Talent is only as good as the scout who evaluates it. Talent needs coaching, too. Look at Russell Sheppard this year.

oh and flynn sucked. I hate when people bring him up. He had a much much better oline. same with Mauck. Both, along with Jefferson, are liabilities. Difference is they were like this as upper class man, where Jefferson is still really young. Hopefully a new qb coach can help him work on these things and his long wind up.
Hopefully that QB coach is Brian Kelley and if it is, I would look for him to open the competition. I believe that Garret is the best passer on the team, but I would hate to start three straight seasons with a new starting QB.
JJ has an extreme amount of talent, but he really needs to be coached up. He has the ability to be a Vince Young lite type of qb. Similar to how McNeal was at A&M or Brad Smith at Mizzou. I wish that we had a zone read offense as that is what he has excelled at this year and in HS.

I know it needs coaching. Thats our problem right now. Besides the WR's and Dbs, I can't think of any one group that has improved since Miles has been here and even Wr's is a toss up at best with the 05 group bowe, doucet, davis. I personally think 05 was better but that is it. Miles is a good recruiter, but truthfully since Miles has taken over only the DB's have gotten better talent wise and thats only because of 2 players and they havent been coached very well up until this year.

Is there any possible way if he loses that hes fired?

he's had a better season passing than flynn did in 2007, and we won a title in 2007
dude......
Jefferson cant complete a simple screen pass
if it werent for our WR doing work after the catch, his numbers would look like shite
cause outside of 10 yards, he has blew. BAD.

I think we'd have to get absolutely embarrassed for it to even be the remotest of possibilities. Even then, no.

LE check the stats. its comparable.

I don't really have too, I know what I see. Jefferson has been babied all year, i know he has a high comp%, he isnt asked to throw more than 10 yards, and when he does, he gets sacked.
most of our big plays in the passing game have came after the catch.
i like what i have seen from him in stretches, but all together his performance has been that of a Soph QB trying to make it in the SEC.

flynn has taken just about as many sacks and had a lower ypa
with a better OL and running game

revisionist history at its best.

I recall a game at the end of the season that told us quite a bit about how the players felt about their coaches. In 1999, we lost like 7 straight games with Dinardo and entered the final game against Arkansas (who was ranked 12th or 13th, I think) with Dinardo gone and Jimbo Fisher coaching. The lack of effort (other than against Bama) over October and November of that year pretty much showed that the players were not motivated by Dinardo and the way they played against a ranked team under an acting HC showed that they had talent all along.

Flynn's eligibility is up.
You don't have to worry about him.
If you really, truly are more interested in seeing LSU win games and you consider yourself someone who has an eye for what it takes, you will stop with all the bullshite comparisons.
JJ has physical tools, but his recognition and awareness are not on a par with the kid from A&M last night, much less the comparisons you want to make.
A lot of it could be coaching, maybe not. But, one thing's for sure. LSU doesn't have much time left to tell after two seasons of unproductive or counter-productive play from that position. It's quite possible that the coaches have wasted their time trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

TAMU's JJ is a 4th year junior who had a running game

You are right. It was Hal Hunter and we beat the crap out of Arkansas, 35-10. We will learn alot about the situation with the coaches/players at LSU tomorrow night.
