Wishing that Cam Johnson wasn't the biggest recruiting bust in the last 15 years of LSU baseball.
I’m sure you’re one of the village idiots who though Jayden Daniels should been benched after the Florida State loss this past year.

It would be a major risk to pitch someone other than those 2. And, I don't think Jay would do it even if it made sense to take the risk.

Considering he threw the best pitcher in the country against a 19 win Tulane team to open up last year I’d say we never pitch off to start a regional with him in charge. Like you said, I wouldn’t consider starting Holman “pitching off.” Him and Jump are truly 1A-1B.

But, you could make a real strong argument that Ack vs. Wofford is the better statistical play.

But, you can’t.

What if Gage or Holman doesn’t have their best stuff and only last 4 innings? Then what?

You go Jump/Holman in games 1 and 2, this gives you a better chance to keep your bullpen fresh. Both have been stretched out to 100+ pitches.

This issue with Ack in game 1 is you leave yourself open to him only getting you through a few innings, then you’re going to your bullpen early.

Game 1 - Jump
Game 2 - Holman
Game 3 - Ack
Game 4 - Depends on who was utilized in games 1, 2, and 3.

Doesn’t really matter. We are winners bracket or bust rest of the season.

Agree.

Having said that, throwing Ack in game 1 I think gives us the best chance to win the regional. Even with a loss you’d have a pitching advantage in your next 3 games.

I think we should switch it. They will never know it is coming.

I don’t think it’s going to be complicated at all. If he didn’t mess with the rotation in last years regional and we pitched Skenes against 40-loss Tulane it’s a very safe assumption we’re pitching Gage Friday, Luke Saturday. Probably see Herring in relief in one of those important games to get us into the 2-0 drivers seat, then Ack, Hurd and company on Sunday

Maybe he would pitch off if they were playing a team like grambling but that’s about it

I don't disagree with throwing off. In fact, I think Jay would consider it, given that he pulled Ack early yesterday. I'd just have to see it to believe it.

I could make a really strong argument for starting Ack in game 1. I could make a really strong argument for going right out with Jump or Holman. I don't really like to argue. I don't care what order we pitch. Just win.

Isn’t Jay the guy that pitched the #1 overall pick vs a 19 win in-state team in last year’s regional?

I’ll be completely shocked if it isn’t Jump

tend to agree but the difference is neither Jump nor Holman are way better than the other. They’re both great pitchers and pretty much equal at this point instead of us having an “ace,” which is a great thing btw. Last year Skenes was obviously your best guy and obviously the best opportunity to win game 1. It may actually come down to which matchup Jay likes this year instead of just keeping the rotation the same.

I agree, I was referring to someone thinking we could pitch Ack or Hurd vs Wofford. It all worked out but I thought pitching Skeenes vs Tulane is still the worst decision to give your team the best chance to advance. It have us a 100% chance to beat Tulane but less of a chance to beat the better team in OSU…but when you loaded like we were, it’s hard to make a bad decision

If it were me
1: Jump, Loer, Guidry
2: Holman, Hurd (2 inn max), Herring
3: Ack, Helmers, Little (if healthy), Guidry, Herring
