Sounds like freeman may end up hc at nd. I doubt he follows. If he becomes a hc Mickens stays with him as they were close before freeman was hired last year and was one of the reasons he went to nd

Rees is likely coming with Kelly as OC or QB coach one way or the other. I think a team should have both so I hope he does. QB is the most important position on the field. There should be a coach on staff for the position.

I predict Kelly keeps his OC, TE and OL coaches at the very least.

Curious. What criteria is used to rank OL coaches?

I think we may get creative if we want to keep Joseph and/or Brad Davis. Some schools have inside receivers/outside receivers coaches. We also could use passing game coordinator/running game coordinator titles as well.

All Im going to say, and you guys can downvote away, is dont be surprised if Daronte sticks around. It will most likely NOT be at DC, but the guy can coach DBs. He was a DB in college before the injuries, and came up as a DB coach. He personally coached my white arse in high school to be a decent safety, and I don't have anywhere near the talent to compete. We all know Corey Raymond isn't going anywhere, but maybe he slides into a recruitment role. Just pure speculation.

And Elco ran his prevent defense (Chavis) the last 2 minutes and allowed LSU to win the game. I don't think so. I could never understand why they change something that's working.

I don’t know, what was up with Avery Atkins punting, though?

Fine young man, just not his specialty, no?

Did he? Now, I had had a few by that point. But I recall at least four rushing consistently, one or two sacks, and what looked like man coverage on that drive. And on the TD throw, I saw both a corner running man coverage on Jenkins with a safety coming over the top. Standard sort of coverage.

Daronte did a pretty good job as the season went along, and I'd be open to him sticking around.

But I would say he'd have to be defensive coordinator if he did, or else Baker would be gone. I don't think Kelly is going to bring Elston as his defensive coordinator and I don't think he's going to give that job to Raymond. Which means it's going to either be the linebackers coach or the safeties coach who's going to be the DC.

So either Jones would stay as DC, or Baker would stay and coach LB's. Probably not both.

It might be that neither does.

I would really like to see Baker stay. Clark, Baskerville and Mike Jones all made very noticeable improvement over the course of this year. It's clear they were coached up. And he's a young guy who's a good recruiter - and probably the guy to nailing down Harold Perkins, who is our next great LSU linebacker.

I think he’d be pretty crazy not to keep Baker as LB coach. The way those guys improved was exponential.

I also think Daronte showed what he could do when he was able to do things the way he wanted. If anything, he could coach safeties and Raymond could coach CB’s.

Unless coach Kelly is bringing his DC with him, Daronte Jones has proven himself here and should be retained. If he is not retained at DC, there are plenty of other teams out there who saw him this year who will go after him as DC. He is not going to go backwards by taking on a lesser role.
