It doesn't matter why ESPN says it, it is the fact that they say it, and pimp it over and over and I'm sorry, but more people and recruits watch ESPN over Fox and what little bit they will be pushing the cotton bowl.
All of you Cotton Bowl is better than Capital 1 are delusional. The Cotton Bowl this year is a lose/lose situation for LSU. Play a lower ranked weaker opponent which if we win we will hopefully hold steady at #10 and if we lose we hopefully stay in the top 25.

Yep. We got passed over and it sucks. Hope all the pro Cotton bowlers like what they get. A fired up, scrappy aTm team that will vastly outnumber LSU fans. It will be a no win situation. If we beat the much lower ranked aTm it will hardly garner any attention. But if we lose it will be the iconic upset of the bowl season and will do nothing but build up our hated recruiting rival and legitimize their turnaround.
Don't talk logic here dude. Real Tiger fans never like to deal with potential losses. But as losses go, losing to an 18th ranked, 9-3 A&M would be about as bad as they get considering what could have been. Classic no win situation for us.

preemptively, for the 9999999th time, payout doesn't matter. The revenue is split 12 ways among all SEC teams.

Yep our fan are such morons want to fire a 10 and 2 coach and have deluded themselves into being happy a team we beat got the top BCS spot at Cap One vs a better ranked opponent. When will the stupidity of our fans ever stop they should be pissed about this snub not celebrating

They aren't ranked that much lower than us, so a win by them wouldn't be an iconic upset. Playing in the Cotton Bowl was going to help their recruiting regardless, and now it will also give us exposure in Texas.

cotton gets the days lone game, in primetime, just like the BCS games do. thats a win.

Cotton Bowl is the only bowl on Jan. 7. More eyes will be on it than on the cap one bowl. Not to mention is played in the heart of some of the most fertile recruiting land in the country. Cotton Bowl is a good thing this year

If LSU really wanted to go back there, we'd be back there. Just because you live in Orlando, don't get all offended. Fly to Dallas and enjoy a cool new venue.

Dude, get over it.
LSU is playing Texas A&M in the 2011 Cotton Bowl.

The SEC conference gets a ton of love from ESPN too, not just because y'all are a solid conference, but because it's in ESPN's best interest for the SEC to be perceived that way.
Look forward to NFL Sundays on Fox though, fellas. The Cotton Bowl is going to be pimped like no other. Cotton Bowl also doesn't have to compete with a bunch of other bowls happening at the same time, much less the same day.
Pull the wahmbulance to the side of the road and enjoy yourselves a little bit.

Laugh all you want TN boy, but tell me how on God's green earth will LSU come even remotely close to having as many fans as aTm in their home state?

For bowls that pay less than $1.5 million per team, each school gets $840,000 off the top. The remainder goes to the conference.

For bowls with total payouts in the range of $1.5 million to $4 million, each school gets $1.04 million off the top
quote:
The balance of the $3 million Cotton Bowl payout goes to the conference, which then splits the money up evenly among all 12 schools. The SEC itself also gets a cut equal to the amount each school receives. For bowls with payouts exceeding $6 million (i.e. the BCS games), each participating school gets $1.74 million. The balance goes to the conference, which takes its share and then splits the money up evenly among the remaining conference teams.

And if we lose to MSU, we would have been 2-3 in bowl games against the mighty big 10 this decade.
If you're scared to play ATM just say you're scared. Believe me...if we beat them...people will notice.

Can't judge which is better until after it is played. Cotton may be better for LSU. Nationally, no one gives a damn about many of the bowls except for the BCS games. Cotton/Capital one are not much different. Cotton may be better for LSU recruiting.

That's because FOX covers the Cotton Bowl this year.
Ah... FOX. This will truly be a national coverage game. It allows even those without cable to view it unlike ESPN. Again, it is available to a larger audience in prime-time. ESPN's Cap One doesn't offer that even though it is the highest rated non-BCS bowl. They should have moved that game to Jan. 7th and put the Cotton Bowl at 11 AM, then maybe we would be returning to the Cap One.

Personally, I like playing in Texas against A&M because it helps our recruiting in Texas. If we go in there and blast A&M, on Friday night with no viewing competition, we will be just fine. This is a good outcome.
