This may be true but most coaches want to coach in the SEC if given the opportunity.
So Houston spends a ton of money to keep Herman. What do they get for their investment ?

Because Fertitta just offered Hermann 125 million a year, duh.

More worried about SC than UH.

Herman has zero ties to La.

Would obviously love the guy at LSU.

But, need to keep our purple & gold glass in-check.

Will be a long few months.

The local news had a piece on the Fertita's and Herman's showing how they have become close friends. Especially the wives. If Tilman wants to keep Herman he will unless Herman wants to head elsewhere.

Fingers crossed he wants to go somewhere more prestigious. Tilman balls out and I'm certain he has given Herman access to that lifestyle.

Texas has a shite load of money to dole out to anyone.
Alabama has tons of boosters with deeps pockets.
Same with Notre Dame.

If this was the case they would've attracted a head coach way before Tom. HOuston is a stepping stone job. Herman has stepped and now it's time for him to upgrade.

They are still Houston. He was always going to use them to leapfrog to a bigger school

Exactly what I said a page ago. People make zero sense sometimes. Look it doesn't matter who is offering Herman he will make that decision. USC, Texas, LSU, I like our chances. USC is a mess right now, Texas is turning it around and if they fired a coach that is turning it around would look desperate and terrible. LSU is in a good position imo. I don't know where all the LSU has no shot is coming from really but doesn't matter LSU will make a good hire at least I hope they do. Out of my and everyone else's hands and is all speculation at this point so I'll just wait and see, all while hoping Ed makes us look as good as possible for the rest of this season.

Doesn't matter. Herman has no special ties to LSU, he stands to make a shite load of money at UH if he continues on this track, and the UH faithful are going to do everything in their power to keep him from leaving.

Houston is just like Dallas. Both have professional sports teams that are the focus of sports. The average Houston person couldn't care less about UH sports. It will always be that way there and here. UH is no different than TCU or SMU. Yeah, they have some fans but nothing compared to LSU, Bama, Texas, etc....it's not the same passion or support from their community.

Herman will be gone from Houston when he see's the right opportunity for him. Houston won't be his last stop. Will his next stop be LSU? Maybe, who knows right now? Fertitta's money won't keep him from leaving though.

The guy you think we can outbid owns the Golden Nugget chain, Landry's, Salt Grass, Cadillac Bar, Kemah Boardwalk, among other restaurants and hotels. He also put up $20m for the UH B12 application to renovate Hofheinz Arena for UH BB. He's a major player.

Even if he stays at Houston he will always have to hope to get into the playoffs of the cards align. If they join the Big 12 same boat. Coaching in the SEC with an outright title with a single loss is almost a guarantee bid. That alone is enough to attract top notch coaches.

We know...doesn't matter. Read my post. Herman will leave for another university.

So if LSU offers 20 million a year, you think Fertitta matches?

Houston supposedly has a billionaire in their pocket.

He's not in their pocket, he basically runs the AD. His name's Tillman Fertitta. He owns the Landry's/Golden Nugget empire, is on the UH Board of Regents, is friends with the UH President, friends with Tom Herman, and is writing checks left and right to upgrade their facilities.

UH can match LSU because of him and a few other boosters. They can't match LSU in many other regards, but you're a fool if you think they don't have enough money and backing to match LSU dollar for dollar.

Texas and USC are the issue, not Houston.

For the fiftieth time, no shite! So does Ole Miss. So does any school with rich boosters.

"Can" does not mean "will". There is a price where Fertitta says "frick it" and it's long before he starts getting overdraft charges on his account.
