Take out the rent-a-wins and just look at SEC winning percentages and you have a completely different picture !!

Do you?

Conference W-L Records Since 2005:

Alabama 107-26
LSU 103-29
Florida 94-36
Georgia 94-36
Missouri 91-41

No one else has over 90 conf wins during that time.

Conference W-L Records Since 2008:

Alabama 84-11
LSU 69-23
Florida 63-28
Georgia 64-29
Missouri 64-29
USCe 63-29

No one else has over 60 conf wins during that time.

Lo and behold, the Top 5 teams are exactly the same.....

Conference W-L Records Since 2011:

Alabama 48-6
LSU 41-12
USCe 40-12
Georgia 40-14
Missouri 36-17
aTm 35-17

No one else has over 35 conf wins during that time.

Substitute USCe for Florida, and the Top 5 teams are STILL exactly the same...

Miles will retire with more total wins than any coach in LSU history. History will treat his legacy very well.

Since Saban's 2nd season at Bama he's up 15 conference games on CLM. I didn't think it was that large of a margin

Blame 2008-09.

In those two years, Saban went 26-2 with a Sugar Bowl loss and NC win, while Miles went 17-9 with a Chik Fila A Bowl win and a Capitol One Bowl loss.

It's a difference of 6 games since 2010, including 2-4 head to head.

Its weird. The entire pumper fan base has developed amnesia about last season. Some kind of group psychological defense mechanism.

I think you just made the case that we've slipped into mediocrity second place in the entire conference with everyone else since 2011.--dissect that even more into the LAST TWO OR THREE YEARS PLEASE ?--what does that trend indicate ? This years will be a telling year!!!

That was Saban's recruits.

Also note that LSU has that conference record while having to play much more difficult schedules than the team in first. Several of those years it was by design.

FYI, second in the conference is also 10th in the country, including N Illinois and Boise State.

I dissected it into a 10 year interval, a 7 year interval, and a 4 year interval. Why would you need it to be dissected further unless you wanted to try and prove some point?

Nevertheless...

Taking away our 13-1 SEC Championship, BCSNC appearance season....

Conference Records since 2012:

Alabama 36-5
Georgia 30-10
USCe 29-10
LSU 28-11
aTM 28-11
Mizzou 28-12
State 25-14

No other school has more than 25 wins during that time.

Miles legacy may be similar to that of Phil Fumer and Mack Brown. Great recruiter, good coach, talent level not equating to hardware in trophy cases. Don't think he will end up wearing out his welcome as the other two did. Some will look back on his career and say he was the GOAT at LSU and point out the 10 win seasons and winning percentage. Some will say on the grand stage he was no better or worse than the other two at LSU who won NC. I really think his legacy, as is the case with most HC except the Bryants, Myers, and Sabans of the world will be defined by the success or lack thereof that his successor has.

I must be misunderstanding the "The Miles Legacy" part of the OP. It's amusing that some want to only look at a failure stat or last seasons 8 wins or some only cherry picking BS when discussing "Legacy" of a 10 yr. period.

Only the "psychological" challenged among us would look at the last 10 yrs. of LSU football and not be able to fully appreciate the remarkable success we have enjoyed. A success that is unmatched by LSU nationally or within the SEC in a 120 yrs.

Miles underachieves and is not a good in game coach. Great recruiter and runs a clean program. Is stubborn but seems like a nice guy. That is his legacy. I hope the stars align and he wins another national title but it won't be due to coaching.

During 7 of the 10 seasons the SEC has won 7 NC. Of that 7 CLM has won 1. When has 1 out 7 ever made someone stand out as great. So just ask your self if you would rather go 11-2 with no SECC or NC for the next 5 seasons or would you rather go 7-5 for 3 seasons but win the SEC and NC for 2 of them. I'd rather have the NC. Those wins are just a crutch for pumpers because the championships aren't there. Do you think that Florida fans remember the wins or the championships with Meyer

Nick Saban has won 3 of the 7 NCs.
Urban Meyer has won 2 of the 7 NCs.
Gene Chizik has won 1 of the 7 NCs.

When has 3 out of 7 ever made someone stand out as great?
When has 2 out of 7 ever made someone stand out as great?

Using NCs as the standard for a head coach is a sure way to end up disappointed.

Should Missouri be included in the stat having 91 conference wins. They have not been in the SEC during all of those wins

If it weren't for that thing called coaching ability, you would have to appreciate the man for what he is. Unfortunately, it raises it head every Saturday in the fall, and we continue to pay the price for it.

The Miles 10 yr. record of achievement at LSU only equates to "good coach"? Was PD, CM, and NS only a "good coach" at LSU as well? Has LSU never had better than a "good coach"?

There is not a week that goes by without a thread referencing in some way our talent bare QB pool since 07 and yet the "talent level not equating to hardware" beat is never ending. Can someone point out to me all the 1-3 rd draft picks we have had at OL/DL or LB in the last 3 yrs?

Does a "Great recruiter" have 1 above average QB hitting the field from 08 till now?

I never said Miles was "great".

How many LSU HC have bettered 3 west titles, 2 SEC titles, 2 BCSCG appearances, 1 NC, a 100% regular season OOC winning percentage, being ranked 2nd only to 1 Power 5 team in wins, and 2nd to only 1 SEC team in conference wins?

We are talking bout "The Miles Legacy" at LSU...right? Seems great to me, but each to our own.
