I would say the majority of his play calling is good, however there are times that his play calling is a head scratcher. I believe this is where the fan base has been focused with their analysis. Example Florida Game: 4 straight running plays, no creativity at all. No play action passes. No down field (vertical movement ). Time will tell if the game plan is adjusted witness of Nuss's health.

It's weird. I interpret "dial it back" as "protect the ball", "limited passing", etc.

Apparently, according to this board, it means "put yourself in a bad position", "don't gain yardage", and "by all means, do not convert on third and short situations".

When you have a QB that ranks near the bottom of the SEC for yards per attempt on 20+ yards and zero threat to running the ball, you will have a shite running game.

I disagree Mrs. Sloan. You are running an offense designed for a running QB. Your QB doesn’t like to run the ball. Should have made changes in the off season to address this. Offensive line personnel has completely turned over yet you have the same issues running the ball. Joe is not an SEC level OC.

That must be why Stokely at USL beat a ranked A&M team(#25) with Ensminger as the OC. The only ranked team the Cajuns beat until 2020 when they beat Iowa State.

SSSSSSSHHHHHH don't let this info get out to the Sloan Hate Mob it will ruin their day

You think recruits are watching Finebaum?

Bet some of their dad's do. Do you disagree that dad's and moms don't get involved in recruits decisions?

Dabo said it correctly. Most of the top players do not care at all about where they play, only how much money they will make. No loyalty, not for everyone but most so college football will be a smorgasbord of teams until the payment system changes.

This seems evident from what we have seen thus far.

If the money is equal would you send you WR or QB recruit to a college with an OC who the fan base wants fires or a college with an OC who is safe?

Presumably, if the fanbase wants the OC fired its because he's not doing a very good job. Conversely if they don't want the OC fired it's probably because they feel he is doing a good job. So in your scenario I'd send my kid to play for the guy performing well enough that the fanbase likes him.

That fun discussion aside, a few goobers on a goober radio/tv show aren't moving the needle, AT ALL, in terms of recruiting.

People here were wrong about Ensminger

about what exactly? he was not good at adjusting. too many max protect deep routes taking too long with a weak line in 2018. He was good at scripted starts to games. look at the difference once brady got here.

Disagree
There is room for better play calling… but no need to air our dirty laundry on national television

90% of fanbases including ours know very little about football. If we would have listened to our "fanbase" about Orgeron and Ensminger no 2019 Natty. Had we listened to our "fanbase" about our next coach after Orgeron we would have had Aranda or Sunbelt Billy. I could do this all day but I made my point.

Play calling was designed to protect Nuss's injury short comings and young OL. The gameplan was dictated by BK not Sloan. Nuss was not sharp last Saturday. If you reviewed the game video as I did you would see was struggling and almost got intercepted 3 times. BK was smart to dial back and rely on his defense. SLOAN WAS FOLLOWING BK'S GAMEPLAN.
_____

Agree that Nuss was not sharp on Saturday. He hasn't looked right this season. Hearing about the injury explains it to a degree.

Understand the play calling is being influenced by the injury, but stand by my comment that is was too vanilla against Florida. The slant was there all night, yet we went away from it. We ran up the middle on 2nd and long too much. We were just too vanilla. Even with an injured qb, play calling can be better than what we saw this night.

I respect you opinion but the runs up the middle were probably more for running the clock and testing our OL. My guess is BK trusted the defense to shut Fla down. I could be wrong but that's my opinion. Let's see what happens next 3 games.
