Other players may prefer a clearer shot to start, where we have a lot of contributing pitchers coming back. Between Evans, Noot, Schmidt, Williams and the transfers we’ve already brought in, it’s a crowded field to fight through. Only Evans is a proven SEC starter, but no incoming transfer is getting a Sat or Sun starting job handed to them this offseason. It’s going to be a battle to lock down one of those jobs.

I believe us missing out on some pitchers shows that we have a solid core of pitchers either coming back or already signed. This is the first year of the Johnson era where we didn't have huge holes in our pitching staff for the next season. This is pretty amazing since we are losing 2 all american pitchers and probably very highly rated reliever.

In three years, we have gotten Skenes, Tommy Tanks, Luke Holman, Gage Jump, Daniel Dickinson, Ant Eyanson, Chris Stanfield and so many other guys from the portal, yet its falling in the one year where there really isn't a star in it?

There is a huge problem with the portal opening up for baseball before the CWS ends. It's like the NCAA wants to punish the good teams still playing and tries to allow other teams to get a leg up on recruiting.
