Whats your point?
That’s 7 relievers that all failed against a middle of the conference hitting team.

quote:Since he started coaching at LSU, he has the second most wins in college baseball. There is more parity now in baseball than there has ever been. You’re comparing Jay to the 90s. Guess what. The 90s will never happen again.
This is false. I just think he’s highly overrated by our fan base because of the honeymoon and 2023 season, and it has made most fans blind to some clear shortcomings during his time here that are concerning in terms of his ability to have longterm success at the level we all expect for LSU Baseball.
quote:Most fan bases would be loving this 3 year sample size, but you’re shitting on it, ignoring year one as a transition year and year 3 as a rebuild from a stacked senior heavy team.
The facts are that Jay won a championship, but equally true is that he’s been here for 3 complete seasons and we didn’t host or make it out of the regional round in two of those three seasons
quote:Its harder to win in baseball than it’s ever been. And he has won it big already. In just 3 years. But if you don’t think Jay is the guy rattle off some names you’d rather have.
I do have what I believe are legit concerns about Jay. LSU should not be a hard job to win big at in baseball, especially if you have the right guy. Do we? I’m not convinced.
quote:I just have unrealistic expectations and I’m clearly cynical because I don’t feel like we’re meeting the unrealistic standards I have set for LSU baseball. - fixed it for you
I just have high expectations and I’m objectively critical when I don’t feel like we’re meeting the lofty standards LSU baseball should have.

The context of his answer he gave to the media was that while Skip said you only need 8 arms or maybe 10 on a really good team, Jay believed he had way more.
the context was, skip says you need 8 and we have 10 guys I really like.

what are you legit concerns?

I got it. You never played baseball
You need to be on another board, buddy. It isnt your time of year.

Skip didn’t have the transfer portal.
Not like today, but for some of his tenure, you could transfer in college baseball without sitting out a year.

I’m starting to not like this Yeskie hire

Player development
In-game management
Poor fundamentals (although I’ll credit the defense for improving this year)
All hurt LSU’s chances in competitive games where execution, sound situational baseball, etc can be the difference between winning and losing

Jay said in his preseason press conference that Skip told him no matter how many pitchers you think you can rely on, you really only have 8 on a good team.
It amazes me how half the vocal posters on here do not understand that no matter the sport the first half of the season is sort em out time so you can find those you can count on.
Back in 2019 Burrow was throwing balls to guys you would not even know was on the team if you only watched the last 6-7 games…

Player development
He did a great job developing the players he inherited
Dugas, Beloso, Milazzo, Jobert, Thompson all improved as hitters
I know you don’t want to give any credit Crews and Morgan,
and now we’re looking at guys like Jared Jones, Milam, Jake Brown, Ethan Frey starting to take big steps forward.
no coach, even the one you have a crush on, has. 100% record of developmentZ
but go look at Ob% from the past 15 years and see exactly the effect Jaynhas had on hitting

Worry about your own program, Serraneaux.

Exactly. All of these guys are in development.

Bruh we used 7 pitchers last night with the following stat line against the10th best hitting team in the conference:
You’re not answering the question. If Skip says you’re only ever gonna have a few good pitchers, is your contention that Jay should just run those few guys into the ground, rather than seeing if one of those other arms has it? Skip didn’t give advice, he was describing why the sport is hard.

My point is that Jay clearly brought up Skip’s comment as a way to suggest that he may have more than 8-10.
More than 8. And he does.

A true freshman got his baptism of fire last night. He will be a great pitcher for us in due time.

it’s the second SEC Series.
Is a true freshmen 7 appearances into his career running out of time?
