Not remembering the game you're talking about but am sure it happened. It's in the best interest of the batter to slow and disrupt the pace of a pitcher. Especially if that pitcher is aggressive around the plate and commands a fast cadence.

UT also had a lardass 1B who kept blocking Tiger runners off the bag on pickoff attempts.
I had a guy do that to me in high school. The guy also played OT and ILB on the football team. When we played against them football, my assignment was to seal him off from the wingback position when we ran a sweep. He had about 125 pounds on me. I finally figured out that if I went for his knees he couldnt knock me into next week. In baseball, after blocking me from getting back to 1st base on a few pick off attempts I decided to do the same thing and knocked him on his arse. Next time the pitcher threw over, he took his glove with the ball in it, slipped it under my right armpit and popped me in the mouth.
The guy was an All-american at Auburn and went on to play in the NFL for 10 years - Keith Uecker.

Jay should've got tossed.
Still love Jay, but gotta admit I lost a little respect for him for not getting run Saturday. You don’t have to be Bobby Cox sippin’ a scotch and smoking a stogie in your office by the top of the 3rd twice a week, but his guys need to know he’ll fight for them. Especially this team. He’s asking a bunch of guys he didn’t recruit to go out and battle for him—they need to know he’s willing to do the same. There won’t be a better opportunity all year than there was Saturday. And even though that’s clearly not his style, I really think he blew it.

You can downvote me all day but it happened.
Who cares? Skip hasn’t coached in 20 years and what is the relevance of this anyway?

Yeah, I have no idea what OP’s point is. Luckily though, I don’t give a frick.

Dislikes are a badge of honor.
Some of us Ranters just dislike disjointed posts that look like they were composed by a brain-damaged third grader??

Thank you. The way he strolled out and had a chat in which it didn’t even look like he raised his voice was disgusting.
When an official blatantly targets a player and needlessly inserts himself into the game, the coach needs to go berserk - give the 3rd base ump the ejection sign and then walk off with the bag.
