I mean damn there are risks to everything. Just minimize It and give him a couple opportunities to keep his blood flowing if that’s something that gets him going.
Happy players have more chances of success. Let the man hit a couple.

Yes, and they still have some idiots who mentioned how he strikes out a lot and would like to see Beloso get some AB in his place.
There was that one guy who posted that and he got 3 upvotes and 145 downvotes. We can't act like many people are actually thinking that. There will always be idiots on this board.

All of our potential post season opponents would probably like to see that. They would run the risk of a very slightly more potent offense. And for that they would get a chance of not facing our best pitcher because he got injured running the bases.

The idea that he could do both isn't "dumb shite". You or I might not agree with it, but it has been done enough times in college baseball to make it fairly common. Common enough that he did it just last year. For the record, I would let him do it on a limited basis (Sunday after a Friday start) if he pushed to do so, but I wouldn't advise it as he has a MLB career on the horizon. At the end of the day, I would let it be his decision.

LSU has lost a weekend rotation piece due to TJ each of the past 3 seasons
Pitchers get hurt way more often than swinging a bat and running the base
The difference is you would rather him get hurt being an ace on Friday nights like intended than not having him on Friday night because he got injured hitting/running the bases. The lineup doesn't NEED Skenes in it. it's a luxury, not a necessity. My guess is that all the elite 2 way players in history didn't have an elite lineup surrounding them.
The same people wanting him to hit are probably the same people mad at Jay Johnson for putting Morgan in the outfield.

Skenes if given the opportunity at the plate should probably be in games that are midweek for now and also allow for a Pinch Runner after the hit.
No reason to have him trying to be all Ricky Henderson on the base-paths.
*Coach JJ to Paul.
“Don’t get hit in the head, and don’t slide. These are the two things required or you can’t be in the lineup.
* Oh yeah don’t run to fast either since hamstrings are a bitch to pitch with.
Lol
In fact we have this Bubble thing…

Its the first post dude. He has Morgan in LF on the very first post.

Some A-hole would plunk him on purpose after he goes Dong. I think that’s the fear.

I think we'll see Skenes hit some soon. We have 5 games in 6 days coming up. 9 games in 12 days before going to College Station. I believe Jay will want to take a peak at all possible options before we get to conference.

For this team, in this season, yes it is

CJJ makes way too much money to indulge the wants and whims of players. He’s going to do what’s best for the team to win in Omaha. This includes having Skenes at 100% without risking additional injury

Skenes is more at risk throwing a baseball than swinging a bat
You don’t watch baseball if you believe this dude. One high fastball to the dome and we are ruined
It's irrelevant to the argument, if the point is that you want to be careful with your ace. It doesn't matter if he's already at risk. The argument is you don't want the additional risk.
For me to offer an opinion, I'd have to understand how much his bat improves our lineup. Is he a top 4 bat in our lineup?

Any answer to that would be opinion. Nobody knows. He did XYZ at Air Force and here in the fall blah blah blah. Zeb Ruddell hit 72 HRs in the fall.

This isn't the thread for it, but I'm really interested in how we handle the pitching staff over this stretch.
Skenes on Friday and Hurd on Monday seem to be the most reasonable expectations.
Shores on Sunday with an effort to get him 2x through the lineup would be nice.
I don't hate starting Cooper on Saturday again, but could also see Floyd getting this one.
Then against Lamar do we give it to one of the long relievers like Hellmers or Ackenhausen, or do we Johnny Wholestaff it?

You right, but work Skenes into the lineup somehow and we can allow it

I was thinking they flip Hurd and Shores. Hurd goes Sunday and Shores goes Monday, then you can slot them up to Saturday and Sunday against Samford. Cooper may get this Saturday again but I'd expect it to be his last start. Against Lamar, you just throw what's left.
Just a guess, though.

Tim Hudson, 1997 Auburn all American pitcher also batted .400. 2001 Tulane great Michael Aubrey grew up an Lsu fan but played at Tulane so he could pitch AND hit. He gave us fits. Let the greats be great.

He did

Baseball Prospectus literally has a saying “There’s no such thing as a pitching prospect.”
Because they get hurt
