This is how defense is supposed to be, before the pussification took over.
Bullshite!
Leading with the crown of your head has been coached against for over a half century!
It leads to broken necks.

Same crown of the helmet to the ribs on Jefferson and on Burrow, except Burrow’s arm somewhat shielded the blow.

There was no forceable contact to the head or neck. He hit him in the lower back. And no launching. Only 1 of the required 3 criteria were present.

“Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet.“
...explicitly defined in the definition of targeting for CFB. Does not necessitate contact to the neck or head.

I thought if you got disqualified you had to go to the locker room. Why’s he still on the sideline?

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt

His neck roll looks like a dogs cone of shame ??

Spearing with the helmet to any part of a player's body is targeting dip s..t, dirty player.

That’s not the head or neck area.

Doesn't have to be head or neck area to be targeting

Fair. I thought all 3 elements had to be present.
1) launching
2) lowering of the head
3) forceable contact to head or neck.

It was targeting plain and simple, he is a dirty player and has several borderline hits in his career, this is why he wears a collar.

Cincinnati Tiigre....read the new rule. Clearly targeting, which is why he isn’t in the game (yet again).

Here is the call everyone is looking for. Spearing is the call that was made for years and has been included in the targeting call. It has been against the rules to hit with the crown of the helmet for at least 30 years. This rule is in place to protect the hitter as much or more than the “hittee”.
Skalski would still be in the game had he hit Fields in the lower back/hip with his facemask or shoulder. It is really a shame that no one has taught this guy the right way to tackle. And let’s not forget the ESPN announcers continuing to tell the story of his dad. They told the same story last year against LSU. They are glorifying these kind of hirs.
Finally, to say that football has been pussified because the rules have been changed to protect players is absurd. When you have guys (Devin White for example) that runs a 4.5 40 yard dash at 265 lbs. & that guy is trying to tackle a 235 lb. running back or 275 lb. TE the amount of mass and energy at that collision point cannot be pussified. The more the rulesmakers can do to protect players in this way the better.
