Another team like Notre Dame can prove him right if they can actually beat an SEC team in the title game. Hasn't been done though.

What SI doesn't understand is that SEC teams do it by design so they can have a bye type week as it gets closer to the mega sec champ game which has become as competitive as any national title game you could play in.
Plus with new tv deals, SEC games are being scheduled earlier to make those early weekend games more attractive.
LSU opens in Cowboy classic next year, Bama plays chick fil a game as well while teams like KSU and Oregon played cupcakes while canceling their early season game this year.
I can't really argue with Irish scheduled. They didn't play any lower level type games although some games were closer than they probably should have been they deserve their spot if they beat USC no matter how bad the sec champ will roll them.
With that said, it still sucks that S Carolina and LSU played tougher sec schedules which ulitmately kept them out of the SEC title game.

Musberger said Saturday night that the SEC should schedule another week of conference games so as to not embarrass itself with its nonconference games.
Musburger is an idiot. He is just awful. I know every conference has its crappy teams, but this is just ridiculous. LSU lightened its load this week against Ole Miss, and still went down to the wire. This was after playing 5 straight games against ranked teams, 4 of which are currently sitting in the top 12 of the BCS. Why would we need another conference game? Who does that help? We are staring at the SEC putting someone in the title game for the 7th year in a row, but our schedule needs to get tougher?

LSU fans whine more than Alabama fans now days, never thought I would see the day

He is discussing how it's genius for the SEC to sit and watch the rest of CFB implode. Calling out our playing of cupcakes late in the season
Did you read to the point in the article where he wrote...
quote:
Many in other parts of the country will lambast those SEC schools for scheduling nonconference lightweights in November. On the contrary, they should be commended for their genius. There were 106 FBS vs. FCS matchups in 2012, so save the sanctimony. The SEC schools simply chose to play their games a couple months later than everyone else, and look how well that strategy paid off.

I didn't think he was calling the SEC out for this. I thought he was saying the SEC was smart to schedule a lot of its big games earlier in the season, then later the cupcakes while the rest of the conferences were hitting the heavyweight part of their schedules and we could sort of relax and watch the carnage. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seemed to me he was in a wry way saluting the SEC for smart scheduling.
I thought his article was dripping with sarcasm. My god LSU and other SEC teams will play multiple ranked opponents in a row.
It sucks the the PAC12 has to add some strong teams because most of the in conference games are weak. We dominated a mid to upper PAC12 team this year.
If he wants to make it about Bama and UGA then do so. But, UGA can't help it that GT isn't on the map this year. UF is going to play FSU. Bama beat Michigan. If the PAC12 wants to follow that model then do so. But, we have been doing this for a long time so don't act like this is new or "planned" by the SEC.
And, he makes it sound like we're headed to another SEC matchup in the NCG. Well that didn't happen in the rankings. So basically, he can choke on a big fat one. He is an arrogant prick that is creating non-news.

He wasn't dismissing LSU...no one would be talking shite if LSU were in the hunt.
LSU is in the SEC! He's bashing the SEC and you think somehow LSU is left out? bullshite! You MUST include LSU in teh discussion....if so it would ruin his point, if he leaves us out, it ruins his point.
Bottom line, his point is biased and a bunch of moronic babble to get guys like you to read and discuss.
Alabama played a weak team. Was there someone else available? was there an SEC team sitting around doing nothing. Other conferences aren't idle either, all there teams were playing, so exactly who in the frick did he want Bama to play this week?
Look at ND....win over USC doesn't look so special now, does it. And Pitt! etc They are the fricksticks sitting around

Why is it always black helicopters and "genius scheduling" when it comes to the SEC's success? It's never that the success has been earned, it's some other factor.
We won't hear anything next week when the conference is playing some of the best OOC matchups of the year, regardless of conference.
Mandel, although typically slanted against the SEC, at least provided a counterpoint saying that all conferences are playing these cupcakes - only earlier in the year. However I wouldn't attribute it to some evil genius by Slive, just pure coincidence. If Oregon and K-State take care of business we're not having this discussion.

He has no point!
Forget the schedules!
If anyone thinks the SEC isn't dominant then BEAT US when it matters!!!
As much as everyone complains about the SEC's schedule they don't beat us when it comes to bowl games. SEC has dominated in NCG, BCS and regualr bowl games.
Keep complaining about our schedules while you lose to us on the field.

None of it matters until someone beats the SEC in a BCSNCG.

Did he mention that Notre Dame played a shitty team this week ...and will finish out against a 4-loss team missing its QB ?

Well, the SEC slate this weekend was embarrasing.
quote:
It just reads like the SEC is undeserving. He is just starting shite for no reason.
Or maybe he's making a valid point. The SEC brags about all the NC's, but its a lot easier when you get 2nd chances that other teams don't get.

No more embarrassing than a Pac-12/Big-12/10 slate earlier in the season. Next week the SEC has two marquee games against two 11-1 OOC teams with National Championship/BCS Bowl implications. Does that deserve mentioning?

Or maybe if those other teams had taken care of business we wouldn't be having this discussion. That's not the SEC's fault.

The roster of cupcakes Saturday was embarrassing.

Did he mention that they only got there bc THEY had cupcake schedules and we were playing real competition all year?

Bama has played 2 solid teams this entire season, got substantially outgained both times, went 1-1, and is in prime position to play in the National Championship.
Mother fricking this.

I wonder how many of those games were homecoming games.
Isn't that the usual MO, have homecoming late in the year against a cupcake?
