Since 2020, Lane has maintained the #1 offense in the conference barring 2 years.

And those two he was still top 3. One of those years we had JD.

Lane and Charlie Weis Jr. know how to install offenses.

I'm in a weird spot right now.
Trying to not let my expectations get crazy high.
I feel that it is a certainty that the offense will be among the best in the conference.
I also feel that it is a certainty that our defense will be among the best in the conference.
This does not leave me much wiggle room for expecting anything less than a very very good football team. The Koolaid is just too damn good this August.

We will have an elite defense and potentially an elite offense. Barring injuries, this is a team that CAN win a national championship. I am not saying will but definitely can.

This is the tough part. I think the offense should be very improved from last year with Kiffin & Weis and be dare I say, good. Then you return a ton from a good defense and add some firepower in the portal, dare I say the defense will be, very good. So in theory, the team should be a playoff team. But I have such a hard time saying that this team with new staff and a ton of roster turnover makes it through Clemson, Ole Miss, A&M, Auburn, Alabama, Texas, & Tennessee with better than a 10-2 record and I wouldn't be surprised if it looks more like 8-4. I hope that isn't the case but man almighty it's a tough ask in year 1 with that schedule to be a shoe in to the CFP.

I don't think we'll be an elite defense. I think we'll be a good defense and with Lane's offense, that should be enough to win any game we play.
There are some depth issues on defense at LB and DB, especially looking at experience. Lane's offensive tempo also usually doesn't lend itself to great defenses.
The last 5 years, this was Ole Miss' rank nationally on TOP in games:
106
109
118
125
122
Hard for defenses when they're on the field that much, especially if they don't have incredible depth.

SAME.
I go into each season trying to temper my expectations only to have face paint on at work on the first game week. I'm ready for the pain.

They'll also tell you there's a superior race. Those people are insane.

Well if we're scoring that fast, and our idea is playing well to start, hopefully we have a big enough lead and can rest some in the second half...)

AND they will tell you Kiffin is a fraud, he’s never won anything, one told me Chambliss made Weis, yada, yada and that they’re better off with Coach Pete. It truly is an incredible look into the psychology of delusional people who will convince themselves of truly irrational things in order to cope with unwanted loss.

Remember how bad our offensive line was last year?
Let's see if he fixed it.
That'll be our first indication on how the year will go.
