Simple bad luck hurt Harris last year more than anything else

1. Mcneese getting canceled
2. All the drops and penalties on TD throws the first half of the season. Remember against State???
3. Once in a lifetime RB for miles to abandon the pass
4. Bama game injury. He was playing well before in this game. Also led the sec in QBR

Versus Eastern Michigan he had one of the worst games a QB has had that I have seen at LSU. I like Harris, but let's not twist history too much.

More than Alabama's Front 7?

I'm one of the biggest critics of Harris, but yeah he was throwing very well in the first half against Bama.

It's just the pre-spring game QB rehabilitation.
That will be followed by the early summer hand wringing.
And finally the late summer false confidence.
And I'm not pointing the finger at other fans... I go through that cycle every year.

Les doesn't agree or else he wouldn't claim to be willing to change the offense.

No question the numerous drops affected his stat sheet and ability to get in sync.
I think this is the year it all comes together for him. Give him more screens to LF and Guice, more TE throws to Smith, to compliment the deep balls to Dupre and Dural.
LF NEEDS to get his carries, as does Guice, but it will only loosen the secondary up for the passing game. The one thing about our passing game is that there is ALWAYS A LOT of space in the secondary with so many committed to the box.

Which is why he threw it 86 times against arky and Ole Miss. It's not bad luck. He needs to improve.

Have you only seen a handful of games at LSU? That is hardly one of the worst I've ever seen. It wouldnt even rank in my Top 10 or 15.
Sure, if all you look at is the stat line it looks bad at 4/14, but how many of those were drops? I remember at least 4 if not 5. 8/14 or 9/14 with a ton more yardage doesnt look bad at all, in fact, that would be good for limited amount of tosses he got. He also didn't have a INT or fumble. Remember, early in the season we were PLAGUED by drops by the receivers. Which only got excerbated when we were throwing the football like 15 times a game. Even if Harris hit 10 of 15, and 4 were drops, it looks like a horrible 6 of 15 performance, despite the fact he hit the hands of the receiver 10 times out of 15.
One of if not possible the worst I remember is Jennings against New Mexico State in 2014. Jennings was 2 for 5 (for 11 yards) with 2 interceptions and a lost fumble. Jennings led the first 7 drives that game which ended up with:
1. 24 yards then Jennings lost fumble
2. 3 and out punt
3. 1st play interception
4. 16 yards then interception
5. 40 yard TD drive, 7 pass yards, 37 rush yards
6. Hilliard lost fumble on 1st play
7. 3 and out punt
Ridiculously awful performance, especially considering New Mexico State is on the level of a bad FCS team.

Maybe it was just one of the worst "passing" games I've ever seen. Harris was awful, but yes, the receivers were too.
Another one that comes to mind is Josh Booty vs Arkansas (2000)?

His accuracy is what hurts him to not bad luck

I'm on board as having faith that Harris will be much improved and am willing to see the many issues affecting him that were out of his control, but his accuracy on short to intermediate throws needs to drastically improve.
Injury or not he's got to do better. He needs to do so many reps that he can complete those routes with his eyes closed and he needs to do reps until his mechanics become automatic instead of forced. Lastly he has to develop touch. Every throw should not be a fast ball. He has to learn how to drop the ball over defenders, hit intermediate routes over LBs and hit RBs in stride with softer throws.

I'll disagree with you. He forced some passes and has no touch on short finesse throws (bama int). His lack of intermediate passing kills us right now. That was Mett/Obj/juices bread and butter. He also doesn't run he zone read well.

We're STILL talking about last season?
Posted on 3/29/16 at 2:39 pm to GermantownTiger
Yea, those 10 short - passes - out- of - the -backfield to Fournette that bounced 5 yards in front of him were all just bad luck. Same with the too many to count sky high passes he threw over Dupre's head all season long.

He threw 86 times in the Arkansas and Ole Miss game because we were getting our asses kicked! We were playing from behind in both games!
