It's going to be another Top 5 class.

Can they make it through an entire season?

Stay tuned.

I don’t think we have enough sopranos and tenors.

We just need to make sure we have enough 4* baritones to make up the difference.

Eh... I'm about as much of an optimist as there is, but I'm not so sure about this

I agree. The rant melt is always overly dramatic. These players have options, if they stay on board we should as well.

How can it be a top five class? Didn’t LSU just try to appease the NCAA gods with giving up 8 scholarships? So wouldn’t that leave just 77 available to cover everyone? Current players, redshirts and recruits?

We can have 81 total

The self-imposed reduction won’t hurt because we probably won’t get to 81 even if we sign 25

Make no mistake, we’re signing a top class. I doubt this class has anything to do with O’s future. If anything it will embolden his situation, not hurt it. LSU can almost run on auto-pilot as far as recruiting goes. We own the state and own a substantial part of top recruiting grounds. That’s not changing.

I think this line of thought is often repeated but really misguided.

LSU didn't "recruit itself" in 2018, you know, the class most responsible for our current roster issues.

Look at the landscape of the SEC west right now. Jimbo and Saban go HAM for the top Louisiana recruits every year. Without great recruiting, we don't have most of the guys on last year's championship.

I don't think any of these guys would have come to LSU without great recruiting.
Burrow
Chase
Marshall
Chaisson
Emery
Boutte
Gilbert
Ojulari
Webb
Roy
Guillory
Ika
Thomas
Lee
Stingley
Stevens
Ricks
Sampah
Dumervil

I'm sure if I thought more, I'd think of other guys.

How do you compete to win championships without players like this? You don't. Every year you rely on LSU recruits itself you get fewer and fewer of the top guys because you get less and less competitive on the field. Before you know it, it's 1993 again and zero top guys from Louisiana want to come here.

I agree somewhat but there is still legit rational about LSU recruiting itself. We’re the only major program in the state. We have a fabulous ratio of high school prospects/college players. Many of the players are born/family LSU fans. Of course that doesn’t equal getting them but we have a tremendous home court advantage.
