I would have gone with Emery, but maybe he doesn't get the majority of the carries or something. A lot of opportunities for people to breakthrough and a lot of talent that could do it on this team. Should be a fun year.

He looked pretty good when he had to replace Delpit against Arkansas
He's an athlete and you saw glimpses on baseball field as well

Is he excepted to be fully recovered from the back injury and ready to go for the season? Haven’t seen much on that

This probably only depends on how limited Todd Harris is post injury. Todd Harris is more experienced and was the presumed starter FS last year.

The defensive back talent is insane this year. Position battles will be interesting. Flott/Ricks and Harris/Hampton will be the battles that are most interesting to me.

Maurice Hampton arrived in Baton Rouge in 2019 as a Top 150 recruit. Hampton has good size at 6’0? 214 lbs and is a strong defensive back. He was able to pick up two starts in 2019 but was primarily a backup for the Tigers. He did manage 10 tackles and 1 PBU in limited time this past season. Hampton has the ability to cover receivers if needed but excels at safety because of his excellent range. He has good ball skills and will compete for the football in contested situations. There is some scheme versatility to his game as he can do many things at the safety position and possibly play some corner in a pinch. With some playing time under his belt, Hampton should be ready to take on a larger role this season.

My son and I spoke with him for a few minutes before their game against UT when they came to Houston for the Shriners baseball classic. He is definitely muscled up for his height....220 might be a stretch but he’s definitely north of 200.

He's been hurt so i wonder if he's put on some weight

He'll need to drop some or eventually transition into a Jacoby Stevens role and potentially future LB

I don't think it does, and I'm not sure I would consider Todd Harris 'more experienced' anymore. He's been at LSU longer but I think they are about even in meaningful playing time.

I agree with this. DBU elite safety star replacing Delpit.

You are correct. Hurt is a quick learner. His next opportunity to run for a first down he slid. No use getting injured prior to the draft.

Saw him working out a week or so ago

Doubt he’s 220. If he is then he’s carrying it really really well

Looked 205-210 to me
