Everyone has there opinion, and he is the greatest LSU QB that I've personally seen in Tiger Stadium.
It's ashame his talents didn't work out in the NFL, but as an LSU fan, I see no reason to seek enjoyment and 'fun' off of his setbacks. I wish him the best.

Jamarcus Russell put John Gruden in the Monday night booth...therefore, Russell is not the greatest bust in NFL history.

He likes Drew Brees (though Russell says he throws off his back foot too much)
so JR still posts on the rant

JR giving advice to Drew Brees.

No doubt wish the best for him, it takes alot of mental toughness to succeed in the NFL, maybe he didn't have enough or just got tired of all the pressure who knows he will always be a tiger to me.

He was great to watch at LSU, and I'd still like to see him succeed.
I can only imagine, though, that it must be hard to light a fire under your arse when you have millions and millions in the bank.

I'd say the most physically gifted and talented QB I've ever seen put on an LSU uniform.
As far as his size and physical attributes, I don't think there's any way he wasn't the best QB to ever play at LSU.

If I had to pick one QB over the past 30 years I'd pick JR. Most talented by far and that's not even debatable. If he had the stellar defense as a starter like Mauck and Flynn had, he would have won it all. Hodson is highly overrated compared to great QBs but LSU fans make him out to be Peyton Manning.

I was always a tough JR critic when things got ugly in Oakland. After reading the article I am really pulling for him to succeed. Sounds like he has done a lot of his community. It also sounds like it was a really bad situation mixed with laziness. I really hope he has a movie script return to the NFL. He is however still going to have to change the "I don't give f*** attitude."

Pretty damn good article. The last line was pretty good.
quote:
"I'll keep moving, man," he says. "But what if I don't make it back to the NFL? I'll be O.K. Being a competitor, I feel like I have unfinished business. Like, 'It can't end like this.'"
The gallery nods, ignoring the apparent contradictions. Russell leans in, practically whispering. "But want to know the truth?" he says. "I know that the game don't owe me a damn thing."
Everyone deserves a second chance. I hope he gets his.

Fair point. Why did Russell dismiss offers from teams in the UFL and the Canadian league? "Name one kid in the world who says, 'I can't wait to play in the CFL!' That s--- don't work." How's he going to get back into shape? "I'm going to work out at LSU in the spring, take classes and hopefully get [invited] to a camp this summer... . Also, I'm building a 50-yard turf field on my property." What about the sleep apnea? "I got it under control, man." Does he have regrets? "I live life without regret. I can wish it had gone different. But my momma told me as long as I'm living and breathing, I got nothing to complain about."
Great article.

curious if the full article will address if he's trying to get on with teans
Ill never understand why he isnt giving Canada a shot- a huge field, passing all the time, recivers going forward before snap- would be ideal

JR wasted enough of my time watching him play in the NFL, not gonna waste even more time reading about his "problems."

He was done for the second the Raiders drafted him....

Great article. Always thought JR caught too much flack from LSU "fans" for what he did in the pros.
