Kendall Rogers tweeted this a little over a month ago
quote:

@KendallRogersPG: Pierce had high praise for veteran Caleb Smith, who has been 88-92 with a very good CH. Also said Tyler Eppler could find way to rotation.

More Rogers...

quote:

As for SHSU, some scouts in the State of Texas, who have seen Sam Houston State, Texas A&M, Rice and plenty of others inside the state many times throughout the season, have maintained all along Sam Houston State was the best team in Texas.

True, but the overall pitching talent and depth of that team is legit. Without Glenn, LSU needs to win with Nola. After that, root for the Cajuns to knock out SHSU to make the rest much easier.

Ehhh, lineup everyone of our pitchers 1:1 to theirs and I guarantee you everyone of our arms are better. If we win tomorrow, it's over.

Kendall is from Texas and likes to prop teams up from the area. SHSU is nothing special.

We know LSU is the better overall team. But right now, SHSU has more guys with decent talent who can throw a lot of innings. They are no joke, and I'd like Saturday night to be the last time we see them. Give me the arse-end of the Cajuns staff any day.

You are letting a feature piece by a Texas-homer get to you. If LSU wins tomorrow, it will take a fricking miracle for anyone to win three games, with 2 of those being against LSU at LSU with a depleted pen.

And you enjoy making definitive statements. I have actually read up on some of their pitchers. I expect LSU to take care of business, but facing SHSU just once will make it easier. The Tigers would torch the Cajuns Sunday night while the Bearkats are capable of pushing LSU to Monday.

I guess that means I haven't. You may also want to read up on the competition they have faced. Watch it, too.

So you get on me for making definitive statements...

Stony Brook really fricked with our fanbase's mindset. Scared of every little thing now.

Wrong. Since I am not a liar.

The Southland Conference. I have seen games in their league.

Do you remotely disagree with that one? Even Cajuns fans admit that one is true.

Your telling me about what I read or what I watch is unnecessary and inaccurate.

Was a terribly down year for them.

I agree that SHSU has a better staff than ULL by lots, but saying that doesn't mean that I think they are a legitimate concern if LSU hits the way they have hit for much of the season.

If we lose tomorrow, yeah I'll be concerned that we have to win 3 instead of 1 without Glenn, but if we win tomorrow, I think Sunday is just a formality because our bullpen is already leaps and bounds better than SHSU or ULL and we will have the 1-less game advantage.

I agree with most of what you said there. Again, all I said in the end that matters is that I would like to see SHSU lose to ULL in the losers' bracket. I prefer the easiest road possible, especially with Glenn out, and the Cajuns have far less pitching depth.

I mean, we got that with the draw to start. I actually want to see SHSU, because most of their top end guys are LHP's which means Foster gets more at bats and we mash southpaws.

I'd rather the unaccomplished trash the Cajuns will have left to throw Sunday night rather than an opponent with potential to pitch well.

Bottom line, it's baseball. The predominant word that I see in all this speculation is "if". As far as tonight's game, I agree that the strike zone is key for the Sam Houston starter. If he's getting six inches off the outer half like fatty was getting, he could hold us down. I trust in Nola, though.
