Honestly think you could make a legit argument for either. If he has a great 1st qtr why not let him go for it, one less distraction the rest of the season. Or you could make it a team goal later in the season against more quality competition.

Just watched all of Perine's runs, and I was expecting some exciting runs...I'd never expect a 427 yard rushing game to be that boring. All of his long touchdowns he didn't even have to move, he just ran in one straight line to the endzone untouched. Nice defense Jayhawks, I hope Fournette breaks it on 15 carries.

Hell yes! Break the record.

Winning is important but memories he makes now will be huge for him all through life. You don't get a chance to break records very often and it would suck to have him sit the bench and leave the stadium knowing he COULD have broken the record but didn't! This is more than just a stats padder! Go for it.

Say LF is over 200 at halftime...would you let him go for the record? The single game record is 427 btw This post was edited on 9/28 at 8:17 pm

I think #7 will break quite a few long ones. Will hit 400 yds and get pulled in the 3rd qtr. Hopefully, he can break a long one before he gets pulled and go over 427yds.

Let him work on 10-15 snaps. The rest is up to him.

So therefore he will likely have 250+ and 3 TD.

But thats Leonard Fournette's fault not Les'.

No way. Miles and Fournette don't care about records unlike Chubb and Georgia who ran up the score on Southern so Chubb could get his 100 yard streak.

I mostly agree with this but would say closer to 20 touches not 15 if he gets the record with 15-20 touches then awesome but no need to work him too hard this week.

Run the game plan the first half. That outcome should dictate what LF/offense does in second half as far as how much LF plays. LF should not risk injury going for records in a blowout win.

keep in mind there is an oddball factor coming into play here...the other team wants to be able to say that they played against him....this will increase as the season goes on...play him for a half or a bit into the third...

No, the record falls at bama. Buga rushes for 300 and 4 TDs to lead us past the tide.

Now I could go for this

He could get it in 8 touches.

I kind of agree. If he's going to break a major record, I would like to see it vs a meaningful opponent.

And risk injury and losing him for the season, NO.

No. The media already knows the game is a mismatch, and LSU will look bad if it lets Fournette keep playing in a lopsided game just to pad stats. It would most likely turn into a negative.

A player getting that many yards usually means the team is desperate and trying to win. I say let him get his 300, rewrite LSU's books, and call it a night for him.

Those records have little significance. LF7 needs to help the team win a championship. That is the most important thing.

Quite honestly, if you ask the average college football fan who holds the record for most rushing yards, they wouldn't be able to tell you.

Nor would they be aware that he's currently still in college.

I didnt know who held it until this thread. Someone has to break it though, has to be a more exciting game than Perines, Gordons 408 vs Nebraska was 10x more impressive/exciting.
