Unless the one and done changes, Jackson is pretty much the last LSU basketball player with a chance to have his number retired. We will never retire a jersey of a one year player.

He meets my criteria of 2 time all american and 2 time conference player of the year. The best season of all other LSU basketball players without their jersey already retired doesn't even come close to the 2 seasons he had.

While I loved Ricky Blanton, he is not close and was never the best player on the team and only one year was even the second best player.

Yes, and it has nothing to do with his religious beliefs or anything else that has caused controversy with him. People that are judging him based on that are hypocritical douchebags.

The very fact that flags even exist in this sense represents, among other things, oppression and racism.

Anyone who has ever had a problem with any way Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf has expressed his opinions on anything whatsoever is a little bitch.

Think why a persons jersey is hung for all to see... not only because they are great players, but someone to pattern your life around, such as LSU graduate, community service and a model citizen.

Billy Cannon wasn't exactly a Saint while and after LSU.

I believe that graduation requirement is for the LSU Sports Hall of Fame. Pete's jersey is up there and he didn't graduate. At any rate, that graduation requirement needs to be eliminated. In this day and age, no elite athlete in any major sport is going to stay around long enough to graduate. An LSU hall of fame without Pete Maravich in it has no credibility as far as I am concerned.

Chris Jackson? No Ricky Blanton? If that’s the threshold we’ll have 300 retired jersies.

I don't know of all the players who people think are so good in basketball Ricky Blanton is the only one who made it to the final 4 TWICE!

I am in support of "career" high achievers being recognized. One and done types and two year types don't make the cut. Chris Jackson did not stay here long enough, no matter how good he was. Same thing for Simmons. Showing respect for this nation and it's flag are also important factors to me as a Vietnam era veteran. Chris is welcome to his own opinion on this issue and he is also welcome to how his stance affects whether or not voters support hanging his jersey from the rafters or not. Hanging up a jersey and retiring a number is done for a reason and it's not to diminish anything. This is where he has hurt himself pertaining to the support he would need to be honored by LSU. He chose his path and that path is hating this nation and what it stands for while supporting a religion that turns all women into property and sponsors terrorism all over the world. Sorry, this is not what you want to honor in any way shape or form.

LOL.. No way not even sure if he is ten deep on the waiting list

Can I see your list of basketball players please?

Hmmm, ahead of Ricky Blanton...

All Americans at LSU (various different teams)

Malcolm "Sparky" Wade Guard 1935
Bobby Lowther Forward 1946†
Bob Pettit (3) Forward 1952, 1953, 1954
Roger Sigler Forward 1956
Pete Maravich (3) Guard 1968, 1969, 1970
Al Green Guard 1979
Durand Macklin (2) Forward 1980†, 1981†
Ethan Martin Guard 1981
Howard Carter Guard 1982, 1983
Chris Jackson (2) Guard 1989†, 1990†
Shaquille O'Neal (2) Center 1991†, 1992†
Stromile Swift Forward 2000
Glen Davis Forward 2006†
Marcus Thornton Guard 2009
Ben Simmons Forward 2016

No Blanton on that list.

SEC Player of the Year
Pete Maravich 1968, 1969, 1970
Rudy Macklin 1981
Chris Jackson 1989, 1990
Shaquille O'Neal 1991, 1992
Stromile Swift 2000
Brandon Bass 2005
Glen Davis 2006
Marcus Thornton 2009

Again, no Blanton on that list either.

I liked Ricky, and he was a beast in the softball games on the Parade Grounds. But hanging a jersey in the PMAC should be pretty exclusive.

And for those who think he was the second best basketball player out of LSU, do you put him in front of Petit or Shaq,
because Jackson was good.....very good, but he damn well didn't beat Pete.
I have zero firsthand knowledge about Petit, but know he was a 3 time All American when you could only play 3 years.

As for CJ being better than Shaq... at LSU? Absolutely. 1st team All American and SEC Player of the Year both seasons he played. He was obscenely good as a college player.

This was a fricking retardard comment made by you. I think a lot of people don’t take kindly to people disrespecting this country, the flag, and what we stand for.

Jackson or Abdul Rauf YES
Blanton NO

Why even consider Blanton? Because his hard nosed hustle? If that's the case we will need to shut down the basketball program because we will retire all jersey numbers

Sure, but that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.
