Saw in on espn. Shaq is one of the best people in the sports world and celebrity world. Always gives back and makes sure everyone is ok. What an honor to have him as an LSU alum. Also with his daughter and son soon to be alums. Shaq we love you big guy keep doing you.

Beats the hell out of the ubiquitous GoFundMe that’s started after anyone dies these days.

If you are trying to insinuate that Shaq doesn't respect police officers then you obviously know very little about him.

Shaq is very much on law enforcement's side.

He has publicly supported law enforcement in a number of ways in the past.

Would be nice if he helped out the Baton Rouge family as well.

People can say what the want about funeral costs being a drop in the bucket and not a significant amount of money for Shaq, and they're right, but I don't see or hear anybody else that has the amount of money to cover a funeral for someone and it not mean anything to them financially doing it. Shaq is a good man and is a great example and ambassador for LSU. LONG LIVE THE SHAQ ATTAQ!

Shaq is in no way trying to pick sides here, and if you know about him and his past you will know that he supports the police. He's just helping out a family in need is all.

1) Cops have a life insurance policy provided by the department for that very reason.

2) Shaq is or was a reserve officer. He is a far cry from an enemy of law enforcement.
