Shaq is a world wide, astute, successful businessman. What makes you think he didn't write that press release? Ever hear the man talk about all his different business dealings? One of the many neat things about him is that he endorses, and uses, The General Insurance Company because "they were good to me when I was at LSU."

It’ll be used for gymnastics and other smaller events.

Investor? I expected “donor” to be the noun. How is he going to get an ROI?

Does that mean he will play players who had great stats at LSU and just not high school kids that have done nothing? Or does that mean no NIL ever.

That I don’t know but he’s not a fan of current NIL

Investors are suppose to put up the money for the new arena. I take it that Shaq is intending to be one of those investors.

I would guess that he would receive a percentage of the “profits” based on his share of his investment.

So this arena will be a for profit real estate deal? Are they charging LSU to use it? If not, how the hell are they going to make a profit?

I always love these press release quotes that don't even try to hide that it was written by someone other than the person it is attributed to.
Shaq is worth half a billion. He doesn't write press releases or statements that are disseminated immediately after he has met privately with business and community leaders. It was a written, on-the-record statement clearly endorsed by O'Neal. The statement didn't try to hide anything because, you know, there was nothing to hide.

Yes, the simple explanation is the developer is going to pay for the construction and operations of the facility. LSU is putting up the land. Thee we developer will own the building for 30 years(if memory serves). LSU eill get free use of the building gif thrir MBB, WBB, and gymnastics meets. I’m not sure about volleyball.

The developer makes their money by bringing in shows, concerts and other events.

The money for the naming rights will probably go to the developer somehow.
