Joe getting up after that hit and finishing the game made me a believer.

Poor Zack Smith. LSU lit him up 2-3 times during his career.

I think Craig Loston knocked him on a kick return the next year. Watch this guy's head on the 3rd replay. I don't know how he gets up.

The legend started with the check down against Miami that led to the long td scamper by Brossette

I think you go to jail for that now... If I remember correctly, the rule was different. But he did launch, and he did make contact to the head, and the unsportsmanlike flexing over the hit should have been called. Plus, the missed a clear interference call.

If no one else remembers, we were ranked lower than UCF, who get's no respect.

And undefeated in two seasons too if I remember correctly.

but was instead an un-sportsmanship call on another play that stood over Burrow and taunted him.

wasn't even the guy that hit him right?

What i disliked about that play... more than the cheap hit and more than the taunting... was the fact that our reciever(drawing a blank on who it was) just looked at Burrow and headed to the sideline.
You mean Nate Evans, who also spit on Joe and has yet to play a down in the NFL?

Yes.

Equally important, and rarely discussed, was the obvious PI against Dillon at the goalline that set the whole play up.

this is how people see it, but I believe the turning point was after they got shut out against Bama. He had had enough of not being the best and his true ascension began from that point

That loss woke everyone up. From Burrow to the other players to the whole coaching staff. Before Burrow was smoked on that cheap shot against UCF he had a great game against Rice then a super human game against Texas A&M both after the Alabama loss. That Texas A&M game was really the moment they realized what they could do.

I don't have a problem with it. It's was a good block according to the rules I played under in the 90's. I've been flipped upsidedown several times on the same block, usually on punt returns.

Burrow would call you a pussy for thinking that. That was what we used to call an awesome football hit

The taunting and spitting on him after was trashy as hell, but head on a swivel when you are running after a ball carrier was the motto for football for 60 plus years

This his is the same. Good, real, American football

I agree 100%! Both the J. Burrow & K. Warner blocks we're legit because both of them could have made the tackle on the play. It's just football. Don't throw int's & there's nothing to worry about.

It was an egregious illegal hit. Should have been flagged For,the hit. The other bone head should have been flagged for flexing/taunting

Almost certain the SOB spit on Burrow as he was taunting him. Not 100% sure, seems like I recall one of the talk shows talking about that.
