Organizing a program in complete disarray. They did evaluate recruit and develop Jaden Daniels. Other than that obviously lots missing.

His first few months here when he basically reorganized the entire football department, rebuilt the roster, and had everyone singing about alignment, i thought LSU was in for a generational run. Unfortunately when he got the seemingly harder part out of the way, the teams just kept getting worse

This. He failed miserably with his on field results but Kelly came in & cleaned up a program that needed lots of cleaning. Behind the scenes, Kelly got players to go to class. He was able to get the overall team GPA up & get players to focus on degrees in preparation for life after football. We can all agree that things didn't turn out well on the field of play but there were positives of Kelly’s tenure at LSU. It's those aspects no one really cares about in the long run.

At Notre Dame, he was known for being able to find and hire some solid assistants like Marcus Freeman.
And Kelly was known for being a decent recruiter despite the high academic standards at Notre Dame compared to many other D1 programs.
He was known for having good offensive linemen at ND.
