don't know. But in addition to the two games being on the same date, Southern Cal beat Ohio State in the Rose Bowl both seasons. Odd.

I was there in '79. We got screwed. Charlie Mac was still adamant on his death bed that Benjy Thibodaux never grabbed that facemask.

Went to the '79 game with my dad. Good memories. Tigers could have won that game against a really good USC squad.

'84 game seem to remember Sammy Martin having a big day.

84 game was one of Arnsbarger's gems. I remember a nice td pass. D was lights out. VERY quiet stadium on tv.

I think that was before Sammy was highlighted in the offense. Hilliard and James were still there.

A false start shouldve been called before the facemask call.

Even if Benjy had committed a facemask, there was movement by the USC, so the penalties should have been offsetting.

I was there. Were you?

The play shouldve been whistled dead at the false start

We had a freshman WR in the same class as Wendell Davis named Glen Holt from south Florida who caught a TD in that game. Forgot what happened to him as he left the program.

That was back in the day, when we were kickin' a@@ in L.A., and beating the REAL Trojans.

Now these Tigers are reduced to being scared of Troy!

84' vs USC...Rehage
An interception by safety Steve Rehage helped set up a 46-yard field goal by Juan Betanzos that made the score 17-3 late in the third quarter.

I just watched that replay. We got screwed on all fronts. Poor Charlie Mac must still be rolling in his grave.
