All year we’ve been counting SEC wins as we do each year. Do SEC tournament wins count the same as regular season SEC wins? Just curious…

Folks here like to say no, but the fact is each win over these top dogs improves our rpi.

Yesterday’s and today’s wins were huge. RPI and resume don’t care that we beat up on some weaker (midweek) pitching (being that both Georgia and Kentucky used their 4th starters).

That said, though, I still give tremendous credit to our hitters ripping the cover off the ball. Plus some of those bullpen arms are legit.

The committee has stated that they do

I know where you're going with this and let me get out ahead of it...yes, the 15(+TBD) league wins will get us in the field. But the 17(+TBD) league losses will keep us from hosting

I agree, and winning this SEC Tournament would get us closer to a host BUT not close enough due to the 17 losses.

I agree on us being in the tournament and I also agree we’re not going to host. It just seems like regular season SEC wins would carry more weight that SEC tournament wins.

I guess the committee deal of determining who goes and who doesn’t go has too much subjectivity in it. Granted when this is going on I’m not focusing on the horrible news all around the country, the economy, and all the other crazy things going on in the world. So all in I enjoy all the debate, back and forth, etc.

depends on your definition of "count".

do they go on your official record at the end of the year? no they don't.

do they matter to the committee as far as getting into a regional and/or seeding? absolutely.

We’re sitting at 24 right now with three good RPI wins left hopefully. We get them we absolutely might host

In the committee's eyes yes. On their RPI sheets it lists all games against conference opponents under conference records.

our RPI is 10th highest in our own conference. A few wins isn’t going to get us in the top 16 especially considering the 2-0 opponents left are USC, MSU/Vandy whose rpis aren’t top 15 either. Not enough to bolster LSU up into the top 16 and that’s even if committee strictly used RPI only to select hosts. They look at full body of work and one week ago we weren’t even in the field at all. Like Etheridge at D1 alluded to this evening, zero chance we host but we’re 100% in and playing ourselves into being a 2 seed if we keep winning

I say yes and no

I think we had to hit a conference record threshold.

you don’t see too many 12-18 SEC teams get in

so getting to 13-17 in the regular season was important and these wins don’t count towards that

that being said, these are quality wins that matter towards RPI and KPI.

So they do matter.

idk why people would downvote. I looked back years and haven’t seen a team with a 12-18 record make it in short of winning the whole thing
