Yes, it means there is tangible evidence that he has accomplished superior feats compared to others in his same role.

And SE doesnt fit that criteria at all.

Please tell us what these great accomplishments are...

Running up the score on horrible defenses with someone elses offense scheme?

Breaking records that dont matter against other bad defenses?

What else?

I can't put much stock in this either way. If this wasn't anonymous, it would carry more weight. Head coaches? Coordinators? Position coaches?

Highly unlikely to be HCs, probably graduate assistants.

That’s the exact opposite. There is NO WAY on God’s green earth you’d get anything but meaningless platitudes if people were on the record. I mean no offense but have you heard coaches speak in public? If you were asked to evaluate your company or in school your professors would you give more honest answers if your name was attached or anonymously?

Athlon does these articles every year, and every year they are stupid. Coaches don't necessarily know what they are talking about ...

CASE IN POINT: Let's take a look at last year's article.

LINK

quote:

Arkansas

“I think their offensive coordinator (Dan Enos) is awesome, just really, really good. [...] I really like watching Arkansas and what those guys do."

"Bringing those RBs back plus the quarterback and their All-SEC center, they’re going to be potent."

"They do stuff no one else really does anymore in terms of lining up and playing smashmouth football. It’s hard to defend."

Arkansas finished 7th in the West last year.

quote:

Georgia

“I think they’re the big question mark in our league."

"To be honest, I think (Jacob) Eason is a pretty average quarterback."

Georgia was one play away from the NC, and Eason was not their starter.

quote:

LSU

“I think Ed Orgeron will do a good job of letting his coaches coach."

"Matt Canada is pretty sharp, so he’ll be a good addition to their staff.

"I still question the quarterback deal. Danny Etling doesn’t have much upside. He’s just OK."

Ed O did not let Canada run his full offense, and Danny Etling is now in the NFL.

Well if O doesn't do anything and is fired. I want Troy coach to succeed him. Since you guys talk about Troy so much, I took a closer look at them.11-2 in 2016 including a 30-24 lose to #1 Clemson. I really think our coaches, team, and fan base under sold that team. And it bit us in the butt. They were supposed to be a passing team. But they came out and attacked our weakness. I looked at the Boise state lose,Troy should have won that game. Dominated the second half, missed a wide open receiver, fumbled the ball on the goal line for a touchback. And only gave up 17 points, the other 7 was the opening kickoff. And 7 with 2 minutes left in the game. I am watching the Clemson game tonight.

O hired the guy (Canada)...if it sucked, it’s on him. So if you’re gonna post links that trash Canada, you have to be ok with criticism of O.

Just a few videos I searched of the Pitt offense revealed the shift heavy style he liked to employ...plus there were numerous red flags from the wake he left at other jobs that he might be difficult to work with. O didn’t do his homework. Period.

You paid him all that money to get on board, and then a couple weeks into the season, you’re bailing on him. I don’t know all the specifics and if Canada wasn’t a good fit with the rest of the staff, but I know what Canada has accomplished in this game. He knows what he’s doing Savage. So the thing he was hired to do, he didn't do. Yet, "he's changed."

Yea that stung to read

Speaking of not knowing what you’re talking about

quote:

You do realize Eason WAS the starter and got hurt early on the year and was replaced by Fromm? Also doesn’t the fact he lost his job and has since transferred show the coach was right in his assessment? And question mark means unknown not necessarily bad.

quote:

Arkansas finished 7th in the West last year.

What does that have to do with saying the OC is really good?

quote:

Ed O did not let Canada run his full offense, and Danny Etling is now in the NFL.

How does this invalidate the comments? He was wrong about O letting Canada coach but even now letting his coaches coaches is something he’s said he’d do. As for Etling camps have just started we will see if he’s on a roster during the season and that opinion of Etling is hardly unique

he lost his job because Fromm played so well the rest of the season and it would not be a good look for smart to bench the guy who just went 11-1 and won the SECCG and a playoff game against OU. not because Eason sucked.

LSU would KILL to have Eason on their roster, he is probably just as talented as any QB on LSUs roster.

Yes Ree shows loyalty to one man and one man only and that's O. He used the Canada hire to prop O up and now he has received his orders to switch gears and tear Canada apart in order to prop O up.

Did he really suck though or was he completely hamstrung by the HC? This is a question we may never get an honest answer to.
