Do you ppl not realize that we have the best secondary in the sec and maybe that's the reason for our AVERAGE passing game
According to whom? You? The Rant? Even Rivals ranks LSU third in SEC

That means that outside of James Wright's TD reception, passing was 9-21 for 108 yards and 1 INT.

My 7-5 prediction is looking optimistic now......

the team still can't grasp crowton's algorithm offense.

This scrimmage, along with anything from practices, doesn't change my outlook on this season. I remember a frustrating offense last year coupled with a solid defense. I'll be expecting the same this year.

Hopefully the offense turns it around and can control some games.

I don't even think Crowton can grasp his own offense. Doesn't seem like even he knows what play he will run, from one to the next. How does anyone expect the players to grasp it?

So it's apparent most LSU fans are definitely "glass half empty" fans. If the offense had lit it up, I bet everyone would be upset at the poor defensive showing. See, when you play yourself, there is always something to be upset about and always something to be happy about. This is practice and you can't get a very solid understanding of just how good or bad the team is until they take the field against live competition.

for the most part I agree and I won't get too excited one way or the other, but you got to go back to the bubble screen play call. That says it all, imo.

I think it is Crowton that makes everyone have this half empty feeling. Makes no sense to not want to maximize your talent. Instead he still has this thing about everyone adapting to his offense, rather than tailoring an offense to the strength of your players. I will never understand this ever.

Isn't the point of a preseason scrimmage, at least to a certain extent, to work on things you're bad at? I don't think "play calling" is a valid criticism for a scrimmage. You might as well gripe about substitution patterns.

Now, the inability for JJ to throw a screen? I'm with you there. But I'm fine with Crowton running them during a practice game.

yeah, especially if you throw it towards the All American PP with a QB who doesn't have the world of confidence, but that's just my opinion.

I think the best way to describe a realist LSU fan is skeptical. I am not ho hum we are doomed, I just feel we will see if JJ pulls it out,

The funny thing is that if you asked a 100 people here who thing Crowton sucks, 50 would say that his offense is too complicated and 50 would say that it's too simple.

I see your point. There were several times last year when I wanted LSU to do what Texas allegedly did in 2005 - pick 8 plays, run only those 8 plays, but do it extremely well, and from a few different formations. So I could see where you might want to use a scrimmage to set JJ up to succeed.

But I don't think that going the other way, and working on a play that, quite frankly, needs to be worked on, "says it all" by any stretch.

Yeah. I think exclamations of either optimisim or pessimisim arising out of a scrimmage against yourself are probably misplace.

You could look at it very differently. I imagine that the play wasn't called as a strategic play but rather to see how well the offense and defense executed that particular play. What we see is that PP executed the defense very well while TT didn't. So now, as a coach, you know you need to work with TT to block better on that play. Scrimmages are about testing execution, not strategic play calling.

it's the play that PP housed and that play has been a momentum killer (the times there has been) with JJ, along with trying to run an option.

It's easily read, JJ doesn't have the speed to get the ball out there fast enough, and I don't recall it ever working the last two seasons.

So all this comes from a closed scrimmage? Some people have such worthless lives they just sit and wait for anything to be negative about. Can some on you negatards tell me how many passes were thrown by each QB. How many sacks? Who made the tackles? How many passes were dropped. The truth is not one of you big mouth cry babies know any of these things. Why? Because you weren't there. You weren't invited. Give us facts that you know.

That is kinda how I am looking at it. I would think that a defense would be able to pick out plays against their own offense.

You can look at this and say the offense was bad or the defense was good. But like always the truth is somewhere in the middle. Not sure if that is a good thing or not. I certainly understand people not being happy with what we are hearing after these last two years.

Basically if the offense is not any better this year we can at least get rid of the dreaded positiger/negatiger crap. We will all just be LSU fans that want the current staff gone.

Defense should be ahead of the offense anyways.
