For the last 20 years to be relevant you have to know what he has or has not turned down over that time period to be able to say that. Maybe he and his family got tired of the vagabond life of a college coach. While I may concede he may not be the best OC in college football, I'll wait and see whether he's the best for LSU, which is all that matter's to me.
O wasn't my 1st choice either. Athough I agree with not betting 75 million that Jimbo is the next Saban like aTm did. Also wasn't in favor of Herman because I feel like the Houston "coaching tree" is suspect, all Offense no Defense, fun to watch, wins nothing of consequence.

There were other names bandied about by fans, it doesn't seem that Mr. Alleva wanted to explore other options.

False. You can't simply assert that he MAYBE turned down better jobs and that's why he was our TE's coach. In order to assert that, you must prove that. Occum's razor suggests that the most likely reason for him having never seen the OC's chair in 20 years is because his job performance was such that he did not get any takers. Any evidence to the contrary, or are you simply asserting it?

That's not an actual position...you know that right? He's not the best, but he might be the best...for LSU? That sounds like some kind of Oprah nonsense. If the best for LSU is a man that has not been an OC in 20 years, then I'm not sure what to say about any of this...because that would defy logic.

Was he your third choice? Can you justify him being LSU's third choice given his career resume and the fact that every other coach in America was also, in theory, on that wish list? Again...we now have a head coach no one else wanted as their head coach as evidenced by his lack of being one, and an OC that no one wanted as theirs as evidenced by his lack of being one. And...here's how we know this...because EVERYONE wants Aranda!
We know what it looks like when you have a great coach that is coveted by others. And we know what it looks like when you don't...
