We dont have one on the roster. Let Bech and M. Taylor play the hback position. if we need an inline TE to block do like other teams and put a receiver # on an olineman

Jack Bech is a wide receiver.

Mason Taylor is 6'5 245 lb. He is a true freshman. He will absolutely learn how to play inline TE for us to have success in the future, and he'll absolutely have to play inline at the next level.

This is a learning year and you need guys like Taylor to learn how to be versatile as opposed to putting bandaids on so we can finish 8-4 instead of 7-5 in a rebuilding year.

He does need to play and keep learning. However, he isn’t ready to be a focal point of the offense and the staff needs to stop forcing him into that big of a role. He isn’t ready for it yet.

surely a true statement

this is logically compatible with the true statement.

This is a valid conclusion =

I was hoping we would play Bech at H-Back. Bech is a better receiver and adequate blocker. If we need a better in line blocker Mashburn is the guy. Right now Taylor is worse than Mashburn at blocking and worse than Bech at receiving. Taylor will be a good TE, but he needs time to develop. Forcing him into the starting line-up has been a mistake. He's dropped multiple passes and had a missed block on the extra point that cost the FSU game.

If we are going to force TE plays, I want to see some interior TE shovel that San Fran runs.

Linebackers cannot keep up with it.

Welcome to September

Look, it's obvious that although Kelly told the players and media he would run schemes to fit his player personnel, it just isn't true right now.

Offensively and defensively Kelly and his staff are laying a foundation for what they want to do in years to come. They are still teaching their schemes and philosophies and the scheme is of a higher priority to them than personnel right now.

Teach it. Make it be a fabric of who you are, what you do and how you do it. Let people learn it so it becomes an unthinkable identity. I can't can't count how many times I have heard and read people bitching about a a lack of identity and this staff is creating a scheme identity of what they want to do. I am not saying I 100% agree but I get it and it will definitely come with some growing pains.

"Inline" as in a blocker? Because he may not have to.

See: Mike Gisecki. Dude is a turnstile blocking but has a long NFL career being a great receiving option.

Almost all TEs in the NFL are either a blocker or receiver. Very few are both.

Laughing at the guys on here down voting negative responses to Taylor. What in the hell are you seeing in this guy?
Ya, Everyone knows he is a Freshman.. Beck was a freshman last year and caught over 95% of the passes thrown to him
Taylor has more drops then any receiver on the field and they are " easy passes" 10 yard and 15 yard passes and he's dropping them. Critical 3rd down passes. Quit using the excuse that he is a Freshman.

Well he is a freshman. He should never be forced into this starting role (especially in a bad offensive scheme that relies on the TE as its focal receiving option). He has a lot of physical potential and should be developing his body a bit and being coached up. he's not an Arik Gilbert, Darnell Washington, or Brock Bowers-level as a TE.

Which one? Mason Taylor needs to play, he will be a good ball player. We don't need to force the ball to him.

Kole Taylor is another recruiting miss. He isn't a SEC player.

I find it kind of funny how this board wants to throw underclassmen to the wolves in favor of more veteran players "for the future" but like wise the underclassmen that are playing, but not necessarily playing well, they want benched.

Which is it?

LSU went four wide (not Taylor split out) late in the game on Saturday. I believe that's the first time they've done that this year so we know it's in the playbook.

On obvious passing downs, you gain nothing by keeping one of the WRs on the bench for Taylor. Hopefully, the offensive staff starts incorporating it more often.

I think Taylor will develop into a good player here, but his use feels like Kelly and Denbrock forcing scheme over personnel. He's an ineffective blocker, and his pass-catching skills don't make up for it. I understand the versatility the TE can bring to your offense, but I think they've put too much on the true freshmen.
