He’s almost been here a year, how would you rate him?

I’d personally give him a D. Throws outrageous contracts out there. Can’t even land targets he goes after. Is he really any better than Alleva was?

Question: who's been responsible for leaking the people we're after and making premature claims about being close to a deal?

So he has no responsibility for the OC hire, but full responsibility for the DC hire.

Has it even been confirmed who's conducting the search?

I think Orgeron is worse but Woodward in the end is the head honcho here. It’s on him to either shut O the hell up or hire the guys he’s going after

Hiring assistant coaches is definitely all we should rate an AD on.

Man, you people truly are dumb.

They’ve turned our AD into a GM and this constant, desperate attempt to give this narrative traction is all just to protect Orgeron from criticism.

Regrets? Alleva has a few as well. His biggest, he said candidly, was hiring Wade. “I got some bad recommendations on that guy,” Alleva said, though he did not elaborate.

Joe Alleva. The kind of guy who hugs you tight before stabbing you in the back.

OC hire. At this point, no idea if it was a great or another horrible hire.

Agree.
This is Orgeron's show and I think any good AD in this position gives Orgeron wide berth to either get his staff and program in good order after a bad year, or to hold him responsible.
Woodward knows he cannot hold Orgeron accountable if he meddles in these hires. To keep his job, Woodward must be in a position to hold Orgeron fully accountable.

Also, I'll never understand why people get SOOO bent out of shape about the money in these contracts.

Tax payers aren't paying for it. Woodward is renowned for raising capital for these types of things from boosters. So why does it even matter?

Now, if your name is Todd Graves or Jim Berhnard, I apologize, continue bitching.

because eventually the boosters will balk at these payouts if they think Woodward is being reckless.

Abusing your big-money boosters isn't a smart move.

What if they're all onboard and supportive of what he's doing? You, nor I, nor anyone on here, is involved in those conversations. Stupid to speculate.

If we win, they won't give a shite and will forget all about it.

HOw hard is it to understand that the program's resources, even from wealthy donors, is not unlimited and must be spent wisely or they dry up?

We're not talking about $50m payouts here guys, Pelini got like $4m and everyone was pumped about him getting hired. No one knew the game had passed him by and his personal motivation to succeed had disappeared.

Of course you’re right and what you’re saying is what any sane person would see as the standard AD/HC relationship. This place has become Orgerons fiefdom where no matter what happens a large group of posters get to work immediately to remove any responsibility he would have. Just take Pelini for example, all summer long he was Os guy, a huge improvement over Aranda, the GOAT DC of LSU and the dominant defenses of the early 2000s were here again. Then after defending him for weeks, when it became obvious Pelini was a bust this new angle was injected that Pelini was a Woody hire that O had nothing to do with. It’s truly unbelievable.

These people complain about a tradition fund. You think they understand what real donors care about?
