Scott Woodward is a good AD, AND he fricked up about Will Wade.

Can’t both be true? Seems camps are forming and I’m not sure why.

Do we not care about the two titles under his coaching hires?

A little baffled by the pure hate.

Yes. Both can be true.

The bigger question is if McMahon struggles mightily again in SEC play this year with he acknowledge the poor hire and make a change?

I agree, both can be true. Kelly, Johnson, & Mulkey are great hires, just wish he would’ve went the Kansas route with Wade. After last season and the upcoming sec schedule, my son doesn’t even bother to watch the games or even talk Tiger hoops. The program just feels dead, should’ve extended Wade as Kansas did with Self and ridden it out.

Wade should’ve never been let go. End of story. He punked out. The ncaa had nothing concrete. If he would’ve rode it out, nothing more than a suspension would’ve came from it

Whether the decision to fire Wade was correct or not, it was not made by Woodward alone, nor did he have the final decision. Not at LSU. Not with the group on the BOS.

I tend to agree here. It’s not just Wade, he has a huge blind spot for MBB. Aside from Williams the last two years, none of his MBB hires have been successful.

Not sure if it’s apathy or just an inability to evaluate coaches. With all the cards on the table, the McMahon hire is terrible. Both the current K-State and Mizzou coaches were available when we hired MM.

ETA. Don’t kid yourself, it was personal with Wade. Woody didn’t like him and really got his panties in a wad when Will publicly trashed the facilities.

Sounds like Woody needs to get over himself and bring back tGeneral if that’s the case.

All of the NCAA stuff is done. NIL is legal. I think the call is made, if Wade and LSU can make things right, I think a reunion can be had. As I've said before, Petrino is back at Arky, CM Punk is back in WWE, and other reunions that at some point were never going to happen. I thought the bridge was burned, but Woodward and LSU can repair it if Wade wants to come back here. It just may coast a new PMAC, which needs to happen anyway, and if you have a legit WBB and MBB and gymnastics program, it's worth it.

Well I don't think our job was a better situation than either of those when we hired McMahon

It would take all sides swallowing their egos, but I think Wade would consider coming back…for a few reasons.

1. The boosters/donors still like him and he knows the landscape. With NIL, fundraising is more important than ever. At LSU he could just pick up with them from where he left off. If he goes elsewhere he’ll have to build those relationships from scratch.

2. He has familiarity with multiple players on the team. Wilkinson, Cook, Ward, Chest are all guys he recruited while at LSU.

3. The risk of a “repeat offense” is essentially gone. With NIL in place the need for clandestine conversations and quiet “strong arse offers” is no more. He can work the money angles above board.

Now, I would give it a less than 10% chance of that happening because I think the AD and President are still scared of the bad publicity (from people that don’t matter) that would come from his rehire. Nor do they particularly love Wade…who would likely be even more emboldened and assertive if LSU “begged” for him to come back. But, if all, including Wade, were willing to show humility and accountability for the split there is a path for his return

The blatant truth in regards to current LSU MBB and Will Wade is that the vast majority of the sports fan base has feelings of real resentment to the current AD and Administration as a whole.

An extremely an overwhelmingly popular head coach was terminated for operating in a “gray area” along with every single other collegiate program.

Now, in real time our fan base has to endure watching our recently proud, successful and exciting basketball team resemble the exact same rock bottom existence from which Will Wade resurrected it from…. All while watching him successfully operate a mid major program 2 hours away beating a blue blood on their home court.

Home run with Mulkey and Johnson. But the big two in most colleges are basketball and football. Basketball is not looking good so far and the Kelly hire
Has been fine but that contract is scary.
