HOWEVER remember he did run Will Wade off. People really didn’t like that move

I've never understood the anger over this. He did so to try to protect the football program at the time, which is the sport that most ranters say is the only one that matters because it pays the bills. The other fans that point to the Wade firing as a strike against Woodward refuse to acknowledge the Baseball and Women's Basketball national championship successes. None of it is logical.

So yall are saying bc of Wade situation and not hiring kiffin sooner? Wade was a coach who was suspended every NCAA tournament for illegally paying players and the rules had not changed when he was fired. He had to. But hiring him from McNeese would seem like a logical frustration. Not hiring Kiffin, we would have melted if we hired the Kiffin before he had a 180 in his personal life choices and success at ole miss. Kiffin reputation has gone through the roof on last 3 years,

I figured there would be some more severe reasons why on Woodard. Maybe there still is from people who haven’t chimed in

To be fair this isn’t true. Jimbo was given and signed the brutal extension after SW had left for BR

it’s been stated on here that he actually wasn’t Woodward’s first choice, so

Kelly wasn’t this first choice either. So does he still take the blame for Kelly if he cannot get the credit for Johnson?

There is a lot more to running a program than just the contracts . Woodward had his way and his thoughts the board and boosters had others .

Everybody on here always wants to fire somebody. Reason has little to do with it because the herd mentality on here doesn’t leave room for that. Hateful group of folks.

Sure seemed like Woodward had a good relationship with the boosters considering the amount of $$ he was able to consistently fundraise.

Wrong he was never 100% caught it proven by permissive evidence. Other blue blood coaches were actually caught with much more damning evidence and retained. Lsu should have done the same. Imagine lsu right now even with lsu final tanking.

Lsu fy26
Football kiffin
Basketball Wade with 6 straight tournament appearances
Baseball Johnson 2 national championships in 3 years
W basketball milky 1 national championship 4 straight tournament appearances

Other blue blood coaches

We're not a basketball blue blood, and as such, the NCAA was looking to make an example out of us. Wade was literally caught on tape, not hearsay like some of the other coaches. The rest of it is just hindsight being 20/20.

If the football program was handed down even more sanctions or postseason bans because of findings as a result of increased scrutiny from the Wade stuff, the fanbase would've really lost their mind, myself included. Firing Wade at the time was the right move given the information we had to go off of.

I can agree with that if they were really coming after football. But if there is evidence that football can be fricked what’s to stop it from happening now

Just felt like wrong move I loved that guy

Because he gave two of the shittiest contracts in college football history. Hiring the football coach is too important to have it frick up. Throw in completely destroying the men's basketball program, his firing was 1000% justified. Regardless of him hiring Mulkey and Jay Johnson.

Go away Scott. You got your 6 million, you don't need us to validate your emotions too.

He thinks our AD has all the say

Woodard would have 100% hired Kiffin because that's what he would have been instructed to do.
